READ AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK

This will probably piss some of you off but I found this a very interesting read...some might even call it funny! So, if you want to get mad at me over this then go ahead...Last I heard it is still a free country.
Vickie

This is probably the best e-mail I've seen in a long, long time.. The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA. This guy should run for President one day...

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."
ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth.. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.
ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes ..
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people.. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (Lastly....)
ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

If you agree, share this with a friend. No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't. I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of the United States speak out because if you do not, who will?

I didn't say it you did Jan and just like her quote said I am entitled to my opinion because this is America, and I am an American. Born and raised lady and I am proud of that, I have worked hard all my life as well. I am a registered voter, a patriot, a mother, a proud grandmother, I believe in God, and I think some of those articles in the bill of rights smacks of the blue collar comedy tour. Quite funny but I don't agree with all of it.

United we stand!!!!!!! I was not knocking all things south, don't get your panties in a wad. I live in the south, if I don't agree with your new Bill of Rights sue me. I think it is a softly veiled attempt of jab at the opinions of some liberals on SD. I am just speaking my mind as is my right. I admire you Vickie and am not trying to start a quarrel. Like Goddess said this day is not about the north and the south. Uh I believe we all know who won that war!!

It didn't cause me to "urinate" as I read it, but it's not a "sensible" blueprint for our country's future.
If we lose our moral compass as a society, future generations will be the ones who'll suffer.
Our founding fathers might have been "pissed off" however.

I said it was humorous, and Linda you should be the last one to dictate others compassion or entitlement. The e-mail used the term liberal and "whiny" so I viewed the rest of it with a grain of salt. It certainly does not speak to some poor people I know or have known. They are neither couch potatoes or have as you would put it Linda "generational welfare". Neither do they have a sense of entitlement to live off other people's hard work. So some of that Bill of Right's should be used as toliet paper. I am not trying to piss anyone off on here. Just making a point of the fact that if you post something that may be construed as insulting you have to expect a rebuttal.

You should worry. In the UK, the only people without any rights are those in work, paying taxes to support all of the Gold Diggers from other countries.

Joke:- Large apartment building is burnt to ground. All of the seven Pakistani's on the ground floor are burnt to death. All of the eight Rumanians on the second floor are burnt to death. The twelve Nigerians on the third floor also died, but the two English people on the fourth floor survived, After massive protests by minority action groups, claiming unfair action by the Fire Department in only saving the two English on the top floor, the Fire Chief revealed that they had been the only ones at work, and therefore not in the building.

Al?????

This Bill of Rights is the epitome of moral compass.

That's the point! The country LOST its moral compass a long time ago, and some of us are very sad about it - we want the strength of morals and character and fabric of decency, sprinkled with some common sense, to return to the US.

I don't want anyone cramming their idea of a moral compass down my throat. Not even you my friend, and that is why I love America. What you might consider moral is not what the Bill of Rights is about.

No. I'm talking the 60s free love, druggie junk and the God is dead movement (because if there IS a God, we're not supposed to be having sex with any and everything and we're not supposed to be taking drugs that fry our brains - so rather than say we're doing anything wrong, we just declare there isn't a God, and ON WITH THE PARTY!!!!)

And now almost 5 decades of Americans have been affected horribly by it. Crack babies. Horrible car crashes caused by all that partying.

Almost half of all Americans will have an STD in their lifetimes and 1/4 of all Americans have herpes.

http://www.ashastd.org/learn/learn_statistics.cfm

I call morals what you do with your body that causes repercussions to you yourself and to those who love you and to those around you.

BTW - as horrible as the Civil War was, I think it was one of America's finest hours. I'm for less big government and more local control, but I gladly give some of that up to destroy slavery. That's one war I would have moved north to support. Then I would have come back to Texas when slavery was defeated.

That's good to hear Jank. The sixties also produced the civil rights movement, which was a very good thing in my moral compass thinking. Isn't "God is Dead" a lot older than the sixties?

jank0614
Jank0614  (Level: 67.1 - Posts: 4597)

No - God is dead as a movement began in the 60s, which as is the way the Holy Spirit works also spurned the Jesus Movement and the renewal of many to seek out the truth - god unleashed the "charismatic" movement of the Holy Spirit and gifts and signs returned to a place of acceptance by many Christians.

The "God is dead - IS DEAD" movement began.

And YES! The civil rights movement! I've always been sick that it was even needed after the war. The war should have been THE END of all exclusions with no need for a civil rights movement. Civil rights should have been joyfully a deep part of this country's heart immediately after slavery ended.

We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused about the Bill of Rights, stupidly thinking they apply to everyone instead of just conservatives."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth unless you are a conservative. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything or making anything easier for you unless you’re one of us.
ARTICLE II: You do not have a right to be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for us to insult you. Your free to leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc; but the world is full of idiots like you, and probably always will be, and we don’t care about you anyway.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect a doctor to see you or a free glass eye. Tool manufacturers must be protected. If you don’t like the screwdriver, send it back, we can still bill the government $849 for it. Besides, you’ve still got a good eye, so what are you crying about?
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and if we want you to eat, we’ll give you some gruel, but don’t ask for “more.” We are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of hungry jobless people who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of hungry jobless people, so two words – birth control! Word to the wise, remember, we don’t need you in the factories anymore.
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care, or any health care at all unless you can afford to pay for it out of pocket yourself, and if you’ve gone and saddled yourself with a mortgage, you shouldn’t even be expecting to have a doctor. Liberals with medical emergencies are welcome to a one-time resuscitation at the nearest ER. Just step over the dead illegal aliens at the curb.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, just be sure to do it with an automatic weapon at a town hall meeting, preferably with a Democratic president in attendance, then we won’t have a problem with it.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to possessions. If you buy, barter, inherit or otherwise obtain the goods or services of others, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and take it all away from you to pay for your next mammogram.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job, nor the right to whine if you don’t have one. If you weren’t so lazy and lacking in morals you’d already have two.
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, but we’ll be right here blocking the road at every turn unless you look and think just like us, so good luck.
ARTICLE X: This is an English-speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language, and we’re too lazy and stupid to learn another one. Learn ours or go back to wherever you came from. When we invade your country, you’ll have an advantage by knowing some English. You’re welcome.
ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change the history and heritage we’ve invented for our country. This country was founded on the belief in one true God, the only real God is our God, and we will ram Him into every classroom, courtroom and public square we can get away with, and you doomed godless heathens and misguided believers in false idols can just bite us, so there.

So there.

I agree, too, this is our latest loss. It is clearly much due to the unpleasant atmosphere created by the incessant political bickering and snide comments substitute for discussion while the makers are all hidden behind this BBS's clouds of anonymity. Precious little of what is posted here in these political and sometimes religious thread ever evolves into actual discuss/exchanges of ideas.

I know this is America...at least where I am and where Justin lives...and that affords many of us the right to a lot of, but not unlimited freedom of speech, and Justin, since this is his house not the public square, has the right to further curtail that right.

The question now becomes, are all of these posts necessary on the BBS of a trivia website? Do they do anything to better the site? Do they promote the original intention of the BBS of building a happy community built around take and make quizzes, puzzles, etc.? Are any of them creating a situation where people say WOW! I hadn't thought about it that way, I just changed my mind?

Oh well, forget I said anything. I was just talking to the wall. Carry on.

Actually, I'm excited that the falling sky has been recalled!

It's interesting that you bring up that point. I have changed my mind on many things when on the IMDB boards, there were true arguments there, not just opinions. I wish this board was more like that one, and in time it may be but you have to have thick skin and be openminded...which is rare here.

Steve, Godwit was on my friend list nd we frequently exchanged pms. Not so much recently and NEVER about politics as we both knew early on we were not even close. Godwit wroyte many very good quizzzes and the arbitrary awarding of EAs bothered her extremely. She also was often not pleased by-one person in particular whio will remain unnamed-who thought themselves of genius status and left nasty comments on her quizzes. If you check back over any threads she started think you will see her main beef was wirth the editors and how they awarded. She more than likelydid not like this thread much but it was not the primary cause of her leaving.

I seem to recall a thread she started recently about the EA and how the editors were unfair. I agree Linda I don't think this particular thread did it. We have had much more toxic threads than this. Unfortunately. Hey that is why it is called Salty Dog. I was warned before I got into it what I was up against. Steve no one has to participate on these boards, I didn't at first. By the way Goddess touche, loved your Articles of discrimination.

Great post Goddess. I love my conservative friends here, but am annoyed. I see no answers from them.
