Guys, for you who prayed for Mrs. Coopman (my student's mom who had brain surgery 2 weeks ago) please go back into action on her behalf.

They discovered this past weekend that she has developed a staff infection in her brain. She went back into surgery yesterday. I don't even understand what all they did - but this time it was much more invasive into her head than the first surgery.

I had advised Donna in the other thread to follow the doctor's advice no matter how she felt. Mrs. Coopman did not do so. She started feeling so well, she pushed ahead of her doctor's schedule for activity. I don't know if that had anything to do with this infection she developed, but I know she shouldn't have pushed herself as she did.

Also, my daughter-in-law has surgery in the morning to remove the fibroid that had kept them from being able to have children - until 3 years ago and the miracle of their child's conception. She will have a partial hysterectomy as the fibroid has always existed in the vaginal wall. She is 37 and has never had any health issues in her life. She's very nervous, as you can imagine. Plus this is the first time she will be away from her baby. I'm sure my grandson will be fine as he will be surrounded by several family members who will dote on his every waking moment! (Unfortunately, I will not get to be one of those). But it will be very hard on mom from every direction.

Thank you in advance for your prayers for Mrs. Coopman and for my daughter-in-law.

Daddy brought Devon up to the hospital for a visit with Mommy while ago.

This 20 month old child, as they were leaving, blew Mommy a kiss and plain as day said "I'm gonna miss you."

It took my breath away. This is the child who during his first week of life lay in his crib with eyes closed, waving arms to classical music in the ipod dock.

He's been watching the "Your Baby Can Read" DVDs. His first word to read was "tiger." I guess those things actually aren't a waste of money!!

Kim is doing great. The doctor took pictures of her fibroid and showed us. Even though this surgery closed a door that breaks Kim's heart, I'm still glad that thing is out of her. I'm really proud of her attitude - she's accepted the situation and is looking toward the silver linings.

Update on Mrs. Coopman:

I visited with her on Saturday after she was released from the hospital. I kidded her that now she looks like she had a facelift. Her right eye is swollen shut still.

It turns out not only did she have a staff infection but also bacterial meningitis. Bless her heart - she has stitches from over one ear all across the top to over the other ear. Her hair will cover that scar eventually (she was blessed with GREAT hair).

She is not in pain, but has an IV tube in her hand to receive antibiotic directly through it for the next 3 weeks. She's actually more upset about her grandmother who had another heart attack last week but is still clinging to life.

Update on Kim:

She went home Friday afternoon. She's having headaches when she sits up, so she hasn't done much of that. Her mom is in from CT helping take care of her till Tuesday. Devon is clinging to Daddy with all the changes and company (he doesn't understand - he's used to being outside with Mommy a lot). But I figure that's God's way of protecting Kim's tummy from any inadvertent injury for a few days. She's a strong, vivacious woman and she can't wait to be up and about again.
