AS I AM NEVER LIKELY TO ASK FOR PRAYERS.

Is it OK if i just ask people to send money and goods ?

You can ask, but money and goods will never do you as much good as our prayers.

Now don't argue with me. I know you want to but I'm not going to change my mind so you'd be wasting your breath.

And I know you have a tender spot in your heart for all of those who are suffering from illness and loss - we just express it differently.

I'll send you money cloggs, I actually think it would "cost" me less!

When I pray, I not only get made fun of but lose time I could be either earning money or bettering myself to do so!

How bout I just not pray for you and send you the money I "could have" earned? But remember.....I don't make much! Hope that thirty cents makes you happy, lol.

CC I am not an atheist and as one isn't it somewhat sad? I am not a church going lady but I do believe that a supreme being created all this or maybe it is a figment of his imagination at any rate I believe in a higher power. It is some how very sad to not believe in anything. Just musing here not trying to rile anyone up.

Justin has pointed out time and again that he can't allow any private solicitations for money and goods. it would cause cause him quite a bit of legal trouble.

so no you can't ask for it here.

But I will pray for someone to send you money and goods.

When we traveled in England, my son lost 30 pounds.

We think it fell out of his pocket on the double-decker bus. It had a money clip on it, so if you find it, keep the money and I'll let you know where to send the clip.

You could try this one, Cloggs:

My dad told me that back in the 1950's there was some guy in the Washington DC area who placed advertisements in a bunch of magazines and comics that simply said, "Send $5 to" and gave his address. Apparently hundreds of people sent him money. The feds tried to prosecute him for mail fraud, but couldn't make the charges stick because he promised nothing in the ads, and therefore legally didn't have to do or provide anything in return for the money.

This is a fun thread Raven, remember fun like what sploofus is supposed to be about. Not a chance to take your political views out on everyone. Not to insult people on a regular basis. You know FUN. Clevercloggs was spoofiing himself you know like humor.

See, my thinking went like this. My health is far more important to me than money. If i asked you to pray for my various ailments, i guess that would have been OK. I'm not that greedy see, i don't ask for health..........just cash and goodies. It's not like i'm selfish either. Any goods that i couldn't use myself i would distribute to the needy, at very competitive prices. As far as paying me to pray is concerned, i'm up for that. All monies paid into The Church Of The Poison Mind please, and i pray in .....er......private.

Let me get this straight you want us to pay you to pray, and then you will distribute the money to the needy?

Bobo - I responded to the unwarranted "gestapo" comment. No more, no less.

I believe Cloggs has a humorous side also, and as such, I'd like to think he's
able to pick up on the humor of my comment more than you did. I never attacked
his values, I playfully "pick'd" at him a little in his own thread.

No problem here, i give few people the power to get to me. As far as the government doing everything for me is concerned. Not just the government..........aid agencies, the Samaritans........i don't care, bring on that sweet caring.

Our local school district is having financial problems and had to start a "pay to pray" system.

At least I *think* that's what the paper said...

Wouldn't "pray they pay" be better ? Of course, that wouldn't work either. God is alive and well and working on a far less ambitious project.

"Pray they pay to pray" is actually the second phase of the program, which will, of course, be followed by the all-important "Pay to pray they pay to pray" phase.

Our good selectmen are now working 'round the clock to figure out how to tax all this praying and paying. I just pray I don't have to pay.

Pray for me, please.

(But it'll cost ya.)
