I hate the automated telephone answering systems - "Spell or say your home address..." Our telephone carrier is one of the worst. When our home phone goes out and we have to report it by using our cell phones, it takes forever and I wind up asking for a human anyway.

A telephone employee told me that if I say "Agent" every time it asks for a response, that it will eventually switch to a human. I find it also works if I say "Asian" since I usually wind up with one when the outage is at night.

I just keep pressing "0" until someone answers or I'm disconnected. I refuse to do business with an automated answering machine. They never seem to have my category, and it's ridiculous to expect anyone to spend a huge portion of their day punching numbers on their cell phone. By the way, this is one of my biggest pet peeves ever.

I have also found if sometimes if you don't push any buttons at all you eventually get a human. Then you will probably get put on hold for 20 minutes anyway. It is becoming increasingly harder to get real human interaction to a problem on your telephone.
It is a sad commentary on our so called modern technological advances.

I've also heard that if you say the word "fudge" or something like that, your call will get escalated immediately.

So far I've learned that a possible way to get service is to say "asian fudge".

But you can get to be pretty good at Spanish if you keep pressing '2.'

The song from Allena's link is available from Rosetta Stone Records.
