BEWILDERING (OR JUST PLAIN BAD) HEADLINES

I don't know what your local papers are like, but check out this headline from mine:

"Board vets health benefit change concept"

I think they've really outdone themselves this time.

I'm kinda hijacking your thread here, but only kind off. Wouldn't it be a great idea if we all submitted the headlines from our local papers this week ? Here's mine......
........
Jennifer Taylor due to be sentenced for killing her son.

Wow, that's really depressing, CC.

So, I'll lighten the mood with this new headline from AP (while neither bewildering nor bad, it has in its favor that no child has been drowned by a parent):

"Fla. college ready for flesh-eating zombie attack"

What I thought was funny was the advertisement on the University of Florida item. It was about people not taking advantage of loans or something like that - I was so taken with the picture that I really didn't get the gist of the ad.

It had a picture of a dog's head sticking out the window of a car. If you put your cursor on the picture, the dog's lips lift (from the wind of the moving car) and his teeth show.

What does that have to do with home loans? I thought the picture was funny but saw no connection to the ad.

Maybe if we can't find current headlines we can include some we've see in the past (not necessarily all of those that make the e-mail rounds). I think it could be fun; good idea CC.

One advertising headline (for a half page ad, no less) boasted in huge letters not public notice but pubic notice.

A newspaper I worked at years ago had an advertisement for Lifebuoy Bath SOUP.

Funniest announcement I heard on the radio was for a violin teacher's students to perform a violin rectal that afternoon.
(bet they didn't have many show up for that!)

........Well yeah, somebodies had to be. I figured, if more had played along, we would have got a good crosssection. The poor woman was mentally ill by the way.

What I've never understood is how someone can be so mentally ill to kill their child and no one in the family saw the danger. I know some mentally ill people are masters at manipulation, but it seems as though someone close to this woman would have noticed warning signs.

It's really terriblly sad.
