What a victory! Congrats. And to think, England gets to play Portugal next (if Portugal still has a team).

You realize that if the stars line up correctly (and none are offsides), it could be England vs. Australia in the finals.

The win will be heartily celebrated by the British for a while, I would think!
My congratulations to the countrymen and their team!

..Now the Socceroos play Italy tomorrow.............

Hmmmmmmmm ... England's peformance is still very iffy. Usual story, with the players they have they could win the Cup, but for some reason every match just grows more ulcers for supporters!
Main problem is the lack of a decent forwards squad, even though Sven denies that!
Would be absolutely delighted if England met Oz in the Final - the Aussies would all be drunk by then!
All the best against the Eyeties this evening!!

Can Beckham and Rodney survive three more matches?

Oh yes.
Rooney played his first full game yesterday and is well back up towards match fitness. He's our saving grace. Unless his foot goes!
Beckham at least scored yesterday - he's been 'very quiet' until now (except when being sick on the field!) and his place kicking is decidely not up to scratch, although it did come back to life once yesterday!
Trouble is we only have one good forward, Rooney, whose foot could still be suspect. Crouch can't play football, he just stands in the area waiting and hoping. Owen's dead (and was well below par anyway). One forward remaining in the squad - who has never yet played a Premier match, and whom Sven has never seen playing anyway!!!!!
And Sven still says taking only these 4 forwards was enough???!!! It's the source of all our problems.
Two good backs are also injured.
Our midfield is strong - and they've scored the goals so far, not the forwards! Need I say more?
The 'single forward' plan yesterday was hopeless, it meant Rooney was much underused, and inaccurate long passes were wasted trying to reach him.
My feeling is for a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Beckham & Joe Cole coming further forward to support Rooney more. The other 4 midfielders could come forward or back as needed, to dominate the midfield. We could then have up to 7 quickly in defence or up to 7 quickly in attack, which is what is needed against Portugal.
But who am I?
There endeth the Lesson!

Oh - so sorry Oz Sploofers - that was a fair dinkum go, though, weren't it! Tragic! Very, very well done.
