This always gave me pause....
I was driving down local road and I saw the following business signs

Quality Floors...
Superior Autos....
Elk Heating........
Who really needs to heat an elk?

There is a second floor window in a local town, proclaiming the partnership of "Hurt & Payne."

Dentists? Doctors? Lawyers? No.

Plumbers.

Not quite related to this thread, but Mike's last post reminded me of this. I once had a friend who was the daughter of a doctor. One of his colleagues was a gynocologist whose name was, I kid you not, Dr. Harry Beavers.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but Monkeynips made me do it.

If you don't find yourself in need of a gynecologist, you can find a number of other specialists on this list:

Susy,
The link did not work for me.

All,
Since this is about oddly named things, how about places also? If you follow a map of the Ohio River west from Louisville, KY, you will see a little curve in the river which appears to form part of a profile. The name of the community at that point is "Monkey's Eyebrow." It does bear some resemblance.

I always thought Madonna recording "Like A Virgin" was pretty ironic.

Sort of linking a couple prior thoughts...There's a town in Missouri called Bald Knob and another called Knob Lick. True.
