KNOW WHAT WAS FUN?

The fun was when nobody really knew or cared very much who was conservative or liberal, Christian or atheist, who was Republican or Democrat, and we all just chatted and joked about movies and music and kids and pets and how our tomatoes were doing, without pointing fingers or making harsh character judgments on very slight acquaintance. There was real kindness and affection here then.

Seems we used to like each other more when we knew each other less.

I think one of the best things about Sploofus is the diversity, and it's very sad to see it reduced to warring camps and a few intrepid wanderers and fence straddlers trying not to get slimed in the crossfire. And then there are the ones who've given up.

I don't know how to get back to where we were; I fear it's one of those rivers one can never step into twice - we can't get back to that island. Maybe there's a sociological pattern to the evolution of a chat community and this was all predictable and we're headed for another stage, more mature and civil than this one. One can only hope.

Just airing a few peaceful thoughts, and hoping to share with others who are thinking along similar lines.

The more people I meet, the more I like my cats.

You can say that again!

My version is "If I had life to live over, there'd be more dogs and fewer husbands and kids."

I agree, Smoke.

Plead the 5th on the kids. That opinion of mine changes daily. Hourly, actually.

I share your thoughts Smoke...sometimes I feel like there are too many chiefs and not enough indians on here...Wish we could go back to the way things use to be...When we were a family and we all got along...

I have only been a member for about 9 months. It took me a while to join the chat forum. When I did venture in I was ripped a new a--hole. I never experienced what it was like before, but I have noticed more and more quiet gentle people coming to the fore. Excellent people who have much to contribute when it isn't all about Obama or political back stabbing. I am glad you are back Smoke as one of the true voices of reason. You are a pleasure to read and I am glad you are a member of my community. Hey what happened to your quizzes after your tournament I was taking them all. Love Bobo

I'm for kinder and more gentle. I wrote a long diatribe earlier and I suppose it is with Diva's diamonds that she lost. I don't remember all of the political stuff 4 years ago. It is beyond what I want to read about or listen to......I am glad that it is in another forum. I am still of the opinion, as I have often said before...you do not discuss sex, religion, or politics.......someone will always get their feelings hurt. I truly hope that everyone has a wonderful evening.

More true words were never spoken. Every person on sploofus is more than their political or religious beliefs. That is but a part of the sum and total of an individual. We should all be able to connect in some way, if for no other reason that trivia. There is a great big beautiful world out there. I love the diversity and all the topics to explore and learn and I learn everyday on sploofus. That and the fact that there really are some amazing accomplished people on this site. I have enjoyed so many of their contributions. 1mks always posts such uplifting and spiritual messages and I hope is enjoying retirement.
