MAINTENANCE UPDATE?

Dear Justin, Editors, and Support at Sploofus,
Is the next update going to be next month, only to let us know that it is taking longer than expected to get all the glitches out? Some kind of an answer would be nice.
Thanks

I just got back to Sploofus due to internet problems.......guess I didn't miss out on much. Last night logged on to Sploofus a minimum of 10 times or more and kicked off every time. In case the management of this site doesn't realize......when you have paying customers you owe us a response to what is going on or at least console us with maybe an extended free month on our membership. This goes on far to frequently with no good answers or resolves. This problem has been an on going issue since I went Gold in May and I am seriously pondering over not renewing because of this very problem. So Justin.....what about a free extension month on all paying Sploofuser accounts?????

The lack of communication is not surprising - most of us who have been here for years are used to it by now. But that doesn't make it any less insulting.

It is not only insulting but also illegal, according to the Better Business Buraeu AND Consumer Affairs.

OK, Justin needs some help in the communicating department, there's no argument from me in that department. I have no communication with him nor have I communicated with anyone who does have (if there is anyone) BUT - I would guess he's working as many hours as he can on this problem.

In fact, he's probably been putting in so many hours on this that his efforts are counter-productive in that he's exhausted.

It's been my observation that when there IS a serious problem Justin buckles down and keeps at it until he fixes it.

Maybe someone who has the red phone line to Justin could ask him to take just a sec to drop in and just tell us what's up - 3 or 4 sentences would help.

In the meantime, I don't know if anyone else has discovered this (I'm sure you have - I'm no genius), but when you go to post in the forum and it brings up that white screen with a message to research the problem or whatever, if you go to the upper left-hand column, and click on the back arrow, it will take you to where you were to begin with, and then if you immediately click on post message again, it will bring up the message box or if you've already written a message, you can click on submit again and it will go through.

Now, the above will be my entry in the longest run-on message contest so i'm not going to fix it. Just hope it makes sense.

The way Sploofus runs now reminds me of my old Gateway 486 and my early days on AOL, Click on a site, lean back in your chair, take a little nap, and maybe,,just maybe, you wouls get there.

Oh my gosh, don't burst your stitches. I remember being in the hospital after my 1st C-section and I was watching a rerun of Tim Conway and Carol Burnett when she was playing Mrs. Wiggins. I held a pillow to my poor incision so I could laugh. I had tears running down my face. I was never sure if it was from the tv show or the stitches.

I must agree that as between hubbie, me and daughter we give Justin 170.00 a year and think we have the right to know what is happening with the site.

It has been so bad we have now missed 4 WPs and have tanked (totally) our monthly ranking.

Justin - I think the past couple of days should not count for WPs and I think a few extra tokens as an "I'm sorry" would be sweet. What do you think?

And Lodi - I don't think Dr. Pepper is good enough. Canada Dry maybe.

Hey all -

This is indeed frustrating! It took me 5 tries just to get this damn page to load up so that I could post an update! Grrrrr..... WTF!

When I added the 2 news servers on Sunday I also changed the configuration of our database servers to use a redundant replication system. That way, if one server failed it would automagically be taken down and the other servers would pick up where it left off. What is bogging down the system right now is the replication logic.

I am working non-stop on getting the system fixed. Trust me, it would be absolutely impossible for any human on the face of this earth to be more upset with this situation than ME. I am doing everything that I can to get things running quickly. It's all I CAN do. So, please, hang in there, and if it means you have to take some time away from the site then please do so. That would be better than succumbing to frustration - which is not an option that I have, After this is all finished up I will be more than happy to extend everyone's paid memberships for an additional month.

Thank you,
Justin

Lodi, I'm going to get you soooo drunk at the Tiki Bar that you won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn. ROFL Bring 'em on, girlfriend!

And those Dr. Pepper cans, too, F5laur, 'cause I'll catch each one of them and haul them to the recycler, then we'll see who's laughing.

If this was done on purpose, then yes, irritation would be a reasonable response. But griping or getting angry isn't going to change one thing. So you can have some fun with us or you can hit me with a beer bottle. Actually, Lodi, I would prefer a can so I can take it to the recycler.

I'm going to keep on cheerleading, 'cause that's who I am. That's the kind of boss I was and that's who I am wherever I go. We're all in the same boat, Lodi, so we might as well have some fun.

Look around us at some of the posts on this site and the sad things that are taking place for real in our little family. THIS is nothing compared to that.

Laurie's the only one who requested it?

You didn't say you'd be giving it ONLY to those who requested it. You said you'd extend "everyone's" paid memberships.

I don't understand.

This was 6 months ago -- and there was never any request for it although it was and is true that I am happy to do that. The Sploofus TOU states very clearly and accurately that there is no guarantee of uninterrupted service here - basically because I am the sole programmer and systems administrator. Most people are very understanding and supportive of that fact. If you file a support ticket your account will be extended as outlined in the thread 6 months ago, but at this time I am not going to perform a blanket 30 day extension for all players for what happened last October, especially since no more than one or two people expressed interest in it.

Thank you,
Justin

You know, Justin, that sure seems a curt response to people who have paid good money to help you, rain or shine.

I think with this answer, you have finally put the final nail in the coffin of my loyalty to you and your Sploofus.

You've told us you were going to take interest, fix things, check in more often. Nobody forced you to say those things.

Mostly you make those statements when you've needed extra money. People have cared about you and given.

Many of us have paid for memberships for others, so you've been given even more loyalty and money from us than the usual membership of any level.

And then you've disappeared.

I know you have problems - everybody does. We read about them here lots of days and in prayer requests.

But sploofus is your company. It's just a business. I've never understood why you say things to your consumers/contributors but don't carry through.

But I think this response of yours will do it for me.

This was not a response to anyone other than the player who dug up a 6 months old thread that had never been an issue, until now.

It's a pretty straight forward deal to understand my gratitude and personality... I am not getting into this.

I stand by what I said.

I was polite, as usual, not curt at all... and still get hated on when I am here and also when I am not. This is why I don't show up here as often - I can not micromanage the communication needs of thousands of players in multiple forums. Especially for things that happened 6 months ago!

I will not be posting again to this thread.

Cheers!
Justin

I just requested what was promised to all paying members.
The only difference is that I happen to have a good solid memory.
When doing business with anyone, including the Sploofus corporation, one
should remember such things. Justin, being a business owner, should remember
things, as well as any other business man or woman.
I wasn't "begging" for anything, just wanted what was told we all would recieve.
If I was the begging type, it certainly would not be for an extention.
Maybe $3100.00 would be nice for one month, but I can take care of my own bills!

Gee, does anyone remember my offer to put your names on the three $10,000 donations I
made on December 21, 2009 that your names went on for those that responded?
I'll gladly post your names if you would like, but will have to wait until I can go home to
get the list.

Jan, I consider you a friendly face. I have tried Facebook and make a mess of it. Justin has more personal imput to this ssite than any otherr I have visited. He owes no one any expanation of his personal life nor his business one. Right now he is most likely sorry so many know so much. People who want to be here will be those who don't won't. Those who want to help the site keep up and running will those who don't won't. I intend to stay and help when and if I can and enjoy what I can while it is here-. If I offended anyonre by saying there is something the matter with their minds, I apologize or that. That is not what I meant. Just don't believe Justin needs to be floggeed in public any more. If anyone is dispeasedd with something submi a support tickett or quit MO Linda. ( Hope to still see you in TT as a friend, Jan)

Oh, and what happened 6 months ago is your fault for promising the extention and never getting around to doing it until "the only player brought it up".
Someone around here has to remember your statements, as it's obvious you don't.
Thanks a lot for being such a disappointment as a businees man, causing my good friend to leave Sploofus!

Laurie, If I'm not mistaken (and I may be, I learned long ago to not put faith in vacant promises)
but, the 2 week extension was in response to the recent 2-3 day Sploofus outage. The months
extension, that was promised 6 months ago has never been given. Correct?

Claw,
According to Justin, I'm the only one that dug up the past PROMISE he posted 6 months ago.
With such a promise, He should "blanket" everyone's extention, but I guess he's too busy with
his own habits and such to do so. Put in a support ticket that may get done in 6 months from now,
if you want the month extention. He might get around to it when he needs more donations.

Hi Laurie,

That's not necessary, I didn't need the month or the 2 weeks, although I am appreciative.
I can relate to site issues, frustrating as they may be, they happen. I have never expected
nor desired to be compensated for sites outages. But, I do have expectations of being able
to get direct answers to simple questions (from the powers that be) in a timely fashion.

Hmmmmmm Justin,
I have emailed you several times in order to keep things on a personal basis, rather than posting. I have also sent my concern and/or questions via support tickets, support@sploofus.com and once again at Justin@sploofus.com. The support tickets were answered with either "Justin is aware..." or "We will inform Justin...".
I also was trying to get a business license number and an address for The Sploofus Corporation back in December, 2009. I was told by the editors that the address in the TOU was no longer the correct address and there was not one. I was going to make another tax deductable $10,000.00 to The Sploofus Corporation, along with the other 3 donations to charities on December 21, 2009. I posted in Salty Dog if anyone wanted me to add their names to the charities to let me know. You are more than welcome to check back to that post if you think I'm bull crapping you.
The extention that I wanted was based on YOUR offer, not mine. I have to pay $3100.00 per month just for my health insurance and a month and 2 weeks extention enables me to have time to get home and renew my membership. You would have known that if you read your emails from me! At the time of that email, the two weeks weren't offered, just the month!
