SUZANNEC'S PET LOVE WP

I thought this was a really well-designed WP, and I enjoyed the phrases a lot. There was one bit of trivia I found especially fascinating but had never noticed for myself. I'll share it when the puzzle is over. Thanks for a lot of fun, Suzanne!

Thanks for a fun and fair puzzle (except that you MADE me leave a word out of one of my answers -- twice)

Suzannec’s Pet Love - Phrases and pet info:

Clue 1 – “Oreo” My first cat. My husband (then boyfriend) said “It’s me or the cat.” I chose the cat and he freaked out and gave me an engagement ring. So I kept both.
Phrase 1 – There are twelve flowers on each side of this popular cookie.
Clue 2 – “Daisy” – A red dachshund. She was given to me by a woman who said she didn’t like this breed. She is a wonderful and sweet dog.
Phrase 2 – Means innocence in the language of flowers.
Clue 3 – “Apollo” – A piebald dachshund, I got him the day before Apolo Anton Ohno won a gold medal in short track speed skating. He is a nervous little guy but the first one to greet me whenever I come home.
Phrase 3 – This theater launched the careers of Ella Fitzgerald and Luther Vandross.
Clue 4 – “Paisley” – He and his brother Silver are a breed called American Shorthair Silver Tabby. One of only two breeds native to the US. He is very quiet, loves dogs and other cats.
Phrase 4 – A twisted teardrop shape of Persian and Indian origin.
Clue 5 – “Star” – A black and tan dachshund. He is the Alpha dog at our house and is very naughty. I was 40 before I owned him, my first dog!
Phrase 5 – The brightest light in the sky at night is the dog star Sirius.
Clue 6 – “Kit Kat” – A long haired tuxedo cat, he was dumped in our neighborhood by a cruel jerk and we felt sorry for him.
Phrase 6 – This popular candy bar originated in York, England.
Clue 7 – “Annabelle” – Another stray dumped by a heartless idiot. She is a gorgeous Siamese and she was very pregnant when we took her in five years ago. She was named after my hydrangea shrub.
Phrase 7 – The hydrangea shrub by this name has ten inch wide white flower heads
Clue 8 – “Penny” – Found last December in the park where I work as a kitten right before a terrible ice storm.. She was the cutest calico kitty ever! After we caught her, I noticed a penny on the ground by my car.
Phrase 8 – The new US pennies feature Lincoln in four different aspects of his life.
Clue 9 – “Maggie” – A tuxedo cat and one of Annabelle’s kittens. Loves to torment the other cats. She was named after my magnolia tree.
Phrase 9 – Famous Maggies include Smith, Gyllenhaal, Simpson and May.
Clue 10 – “Boomer” – A gorgeous black lab, I purchased him from my neighbors who did not have time for him. He is truly the joy of my life.
Phrase 10 – Also the name of a woodpecker in Disneys The Fox and the Hound.

As you can see, I have a lot of pets and am a sucker for a stray. Reminder to all – Please have your pets spayed or neutered. It will make them a happier and healthier pet and less likely to wander off.!

Suzanne -- Thanks again for a great puzzle! The phrase that was my favorite was the one about Oreo cookies. I knew there were flowers on the chocolate parts, but I had never counted them. So, I thought that learning there are 12 flowers on each side was a neat trivia tidbit! I also loved the story about your cat and how you chose him (?) over your boyfriend! (I would, too, by the way!)

Two other phrases I had were the one about the dog star Sirius and the woodpecker in the Fox and the Hound. I liked how you used animal trivia in those phrases.

It sounds like you have a wonderful family with all of your animal companions!
