PUNNY COLORS IN SONGS WP

Can't say it was my favorite. The first one I got made no sense. Sadly, I can't figure out how to explain that comment without giving any clues away, so I will leave it at that. The other four were fine, but I still couldn't get the bad taste from the first one out of my mouth.

Maybe I'm just overtired and fussy this evening

Without the first, I'm sure it would have been fun!

I thought it was a highly amusing WP and I enjoyed it very much.

Unfortunately, I hit one puzzle that didn't fit the model done by the others. That cost me a perfect score.

Well, that and getting The Dreaded Rap Puzzle

For clevercloggs benefit:

I did not get the dreaded puzzle referred to in my colleague's plaints, so maybe I'm biased.
But my view is that this was a classic 5'er puzzle.
If you didn't manage it, maybe you weren't using the right information sources!

Got it in five? Yeeks. We personally don't like the little ones, but good on anyone who got it in a few.

Yes, congratulations to all those folks who got it in single digits. Nice job.

Not me. Didn't get the first one and never recovered. Oh well. It sure wasn't the puzzle-maker's fault!

Not my cup of tea, but very nicely done except for one title that just was not punny.

I never said a word !!!!!!!! I could and should have done better myself, i took it at around 2am. I'm not a great fan of these little ones, and i do have my doubts about many of the "five scorers".............it's just an opinion. I just use my brain , that could be the problem, and simple Googles.

So, here's the one that messed me up: The first puzzle I got was "Village People," with the answer being "In the Navy." But it was supposed to be "punny," so I knew it could not possibly be "In the Navy," since that's the name of their song. So I first guessed "In the Pink"--and basked in the toxic glow of the pink screen. Then I pretty much guessed every letter in the alphabet other than "n," "a," "v," and "y," so certain was I that, whatever the answer, it could not possibly be "Navy." Grrr.

Unlucky --was that the inconsistent one that got everyone else too?

Yep, wasted some valuable letters and time with "In the Navy." Sure, it's a pun--just not in the style of the others. If you got it first, you're thinking the following ones will be in same style, i.e., song titles that are puns without changes. So I did even worse on my second puzzle.

Ditto the above. Also had Navy first.

Also had "Navy," plus a Doris Day song I've never heard. Did everyone else waste minutes trying to get colors out of "Que Sera, Sera"?

Gray Sienna Sienna??? What's the real song? What was the clue?

Glad I didn't get that one, or I'd still be working on it.

Not real -- a take on "Que Sera, Sera."

That's what I meant--what's the real song that "Gray Sienna Sienna" was a play on? I guess it makes some sense when you say it aloud. But quite a stretch. I assume the clue was Doris Day.

Oh, sorry -- I misread your post. The clue was, indeed, "Doris Day"; the song was something like "It Blew in on a Windy Day" (well, "blew," and "windy day" are correct, anyway). So the exchange was obviously blew = blue.

the Doris Day phrase was:

Just Blue In From the Windy City

OK, I'm confused. What was the clue for the "Que Sera, Sera" puzzle?

My apologies to those who had troubles with this puzzle. I admit that the Village People phrase was somewhat inconsistent with the theme, the "fit" was a bit tenuous!

There was NO "Que Sera, Sera" phrase: you have been led astray.
