It's your day and hope it is a happy one indeed! I would like to sing a song for your birthday...here are your choices of renditions:

Marilyn Monroe ~ This will be a recreation of Marilyn on stage in her second skin, sequined dress singing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy.

The Andrews Sisters ~ My own lyrics sang to the tune of "Mr. Sandman", complete with several NYC Rockette kicks!

Traditional ~ Sang to the tune of "Good Morning To You", the original and tradition rendition....boooorrrrrring!

Oh, I was so hoping you would choose The Andrew Sisters rendition. Thank you! Do you recall the tune of Mr. Sandman as sang by The Andrews Sisters?

"Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen.
Give him two lips like roses and clover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over."

Here tis ~ remember to keep the tune of Mr. Sandman!

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to you
May all your wishes and dreams come true
But for now I wish youuuuuuuuuuu
A happy birthday (right kick) Yeah!
A happy birthday (left kick) Yeah!
A happy birthday tooooo yoooooouuu ! (One right and one left kick and a final yeah!))

Have a great day!

How fitting - I was thinking of kicking you too! (jk?)

Sorry pAl that I'm so late in the day acknowledging the celebration of the birth of the PP king! (I'll email).

Thanks for being my friend! For me, Sploofus was just a place to incorrectly answer quiz questions till you came onboard and took pity on my pathetic self and started mentoring me and teaching me Jedi tricks (Al Kenobi).

I hope you have tons more PPs and tons more BDs to enjoy them. (I'd do one for each candle on your cake, but I might crash the site!)

Well thank you- thank you kindly.
So someone "outed" me. My profile says my age is --[I'm AARP eligible]-- but that's all I'm admitting to.
Social Security- bah humbug- years away.
It' s been a pretty good day- went to work - and did NONE!

Just finished dinner with my wife and son - and he PAID! The restaurant [Memphis Blues BBQ- nice theme restaurant -Elvis fans would love it] treated me to a piece of key lime pie. I feel like Bogey [when he was alive folks].

An update on my detached retina problems of late. I'm hoping Donna/Smoke is recovering well too, and we have had similar eye problems. My detachment was first repaired on June 26. Summer is gone now- and I missed it.
I have had three repair freezing procedures and three gas bubbles! Here's some scientific background:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most detachment repair operations are urgent. A detached retina lacks oxygen, which causes cells in the area to die. This can lead to blindness.

If holes in the retina are found before a detachment occurs, an ophthalmologist can close the holes using a laser. This is usually done in the doctor's office.

If the retina has just started to separate, a procedure called pneumatic retinopexy may be done to repair it. Pneumatic retinopexy (gas bubble placement) is also usually an office procedure. The health care provider injects a bubble of gas into your eye. You will be positioned so the gas floats up against the hole in the retina and pushes it back into place. The surgeon will use a laser to permanently seal the hole. [footnote- been there; done that- but I wasn't lucky. A second tear developed in early August].

More severe detachments require more advanced surgery. There following procedures are done in a hospital or outpatient surgery center:

* The scleral buckle method bends the wall of the eye inward so that it meets the hole in the retina. Scleral buckling can be done under local or general anesthesia [yep-- that 's what was done also- I'm still healing but it looks promising. The gas bubble is almost gone- but my vision is still blurry-improving daily.

I will also end up dealing with a cataract down the road too. But all in all- I'm so glad that my health insurance has been there.
Everybody should have that necessity [not luxury] too.

Time to play more games. you know my key lime pie has made me hungry for a peppermint pattie [first one today].
I deserve it!

Thanks to everyone [ Jank] for boosting my spirits during the past few months.
Sploof on!
Al

post script- regarding that scleral buckle operation- UGH!
It was about a two hour operation; was under general anesthesia- I was brought out of it with about 45 minutes to go. I was alert and I could feel the freezing and gas bubble aspects of the surgery. My doctor and nurses were wonderful.

But don't ask me to think about what they did for the first 75 minutes to my eye!

Happy Birthday, Al!!!
Sounds like a great way to cap the day - dinner with your family.
Even though you had Key Lime Pie (a personal favorite of mine, also), I hope you had at least one celebratory Peppermint Patty!

Looks like I'm late to the birthday party, Al! That's what I get for not reading the SD until late at night.

Well, happy, happy B-Day, Al! It sounds like a good one--especially with a Peppermint Patty to finish it off!

Post script for all of Al's friends and Sploofus fanatics: Al informed me in a PM that his birthday tokens didn't show up from Justin! Now THAT is a bummer. One of the more serious bugs after the infamous October 2009 upgrade. I sure hope that little goodie gets fixed. Just not fair to Al (or the rest of us when our birthdays arrive)!
