You better hurry up and get here before I eat them all up!
I meant carmel apples, not candy.
With or without crushed nuts?

Favorite? Fruit flavored tootsie rolls.

Least favorite? Maybe anything peppermint flavored (sorry Al!) Too much time eating those mints in hotels on the three trillion vacations I took as a kid. Of course, my VERY least favorite would be the toothbrushes some people give out. (hehe).

Hey Jeremy...I used to give out toothbrushes and travel size toothpaste! I was a dental hygienist. Now I make the carmel apples to rip out the fillings I probably helped put in! LOL

My folks told me years ago that people used to give out caramel apples and popcorn balls when they were kids. No one can do that around here anymore because of the sick *&%#$s who put things into things like that. I love a good caramel apple with crushed peanuts, but have to get them at the store.

We don't accept apples either for the same reason - people put razor blades in them. You never know who's twisted sick.

My fave is anything milk chocolate and I'm with everybody who hates licorice - blech!

I'm not twisted sick.....YET! LOL The only Halloweeners that are willing to come 23 miles from the nearest town from me are my family. Otherwise I would not have any kids come here.

My fave was always Milk Duds. One of my neighbors during my Toledo days managed a tobacco/candy distributor outlet and used to give full size boxes of the stuff. My giveaways were Planters Peanut Bars. He gave them away in the full size also but I gave them to my dad.

I love caramel corn!
Has there ever been a documented case of a razor blade in an apple btw?

Many. Back in the 70s for sure when my son was little. There would be 2 or 3 per Halloween where we lived. We were warned to never take anything unwrapped in the original wrapper.

You know, the only reason I didn't like those toothbrushes is because I always had one already! Of course I did, I was a kid, my mom and dad always supplied such things. Why would I want another one of those? It was like getting socks for Christmas.

I used to take my kids to where I grew up. Same neighbors that gave me candy as a kid, only they were all older. It was always nice to see them again, plus I knew that they were safe, highly respected people. Sadly, almost all of them have passed on now, but the memories are nice.

Did your mom and dad make sure you had a new toothbrush every 4 weeks or sooner?
Let me check how many cavities you have. Open wide! LOL

My favorite now is Reeses cups. But as a kid, I loved getting the flavored wax lips and the little wax cola bottles that you bit off the top (or punched a small hole in it) and sucked out the instant sugar coma inside. And back then I thought candy cigarettes were cool. Probably one reason I smoked for over 20 years.

The only candy I ever gave away was the stuff that had coconut in it. But Dad loved it, so I came off looking generous.

The good thing about actually liking licorice is that everyone is willing to give you theirs.

I love those round thingies that are round and flat with caramel around the outside and a sweet creamy stuff in middle.

I hate licorice.

Any of those BIG candy bars not the mini's we give out today. You know the one's that cost a dollar now. We used to actually get those when I was a wee one and we really TRICKED or treated. I love caramel apples, least favorite popcorn balls!

OHHHHHHHHHHH YUMMMMMMMM!! Beth, you're refering to carmel creams, right? I live those things. They have them out as a roll now and call them cow tails.
Yucky on the popcorn balls for me too.
Using the same toothbrush for 4 MONTHS? EEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW Maybe if you only use it once a week! LOL

I love them all - sadly - except Reeses. You can keep the peanut butter taste. You can also keep the Starburst, Jolly Ranchers and stuff like that, tho the kids seem to love them.

But anything else is fair game for my mouth - anything chocolatey, or licorice, or even phony licorice, like Twizzlers I purposely didn't buy a mixture with Baby Ruth in it - would've finished them all.

Sigh - remember when we were kids in the early 50s. No worries about unwrapped goodies. We lived on a great block - several people gave out orange and black napkins tied with bows, and inside were homemade cookies, brownies, candy that looked like spiders, and all sorts of other wonderful treats that they labored long and hard on. Then after we hit the block, we went over to the development, and hit up the apartment house!

Just got me thinking about Good N Plenty and black jelly beans. Love them too. All this stuff I haven't had in at least 2 years now. Today was the first day in that long that I finally wanted something sweet. Wonder if that might be a good sign for me. LOL New Medical Breakthrough: Craving sweets wards off cancer! ROFL
