What an inspiring day! Tim Janis out of NYC is making a tour of large cities in the US, creating patriotic specials for PBS to be shown in the spring. Many of the best high school choirs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area were invited to come to the local PBS station to record patriotic and spiritual songs which Mr. Janis had arranged.

My two best cellists were invited to play along with the Janis combo, so we just finished up 10 hours of recording these amazing songs. We were in tears several times throughout the day, it was so beautiful and inspiring.

Days like this are why we become choir, band, and orchestra directors. What a joyful (yes, while stressful!) career.

I believe the tour includes 13 cities in the US, so you can watch your own local choirs singing when the schedule is released. I'll be glad to post a link for the different cities. Pictures of different cities so far are at:

Al - if you know any high school kids in choirs in Pittsburgh, there are pictures from there on that site.

In case you want more information about Mr. Janis's music, you can look here:

"Tim Janis is an American composer with 10 Billboard charting CDs, over one million albums sold, four National Public Television Specials, and a constant touring presence. Tim Janis has worked with some of the top artists in the music and entertainment business -- from Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and Ray Charles, to George Clooney and James Earl Jones, and he has conducted the Czech National Symphony, the Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic, and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra..."

Those of you in the Dallas/FW area, it will be shown on KERA some time in March. If you have any interest whatsoever in watching, I'll let you know the date and time when it's released. It's going to be an amazing show! 20 different choirs are represented, each singing one song.

What a great, life-changing experience for our students. We're exhausted, but it's happy exhausted!

I'll contact friends in Pittsburgh to let them know about the website.
Thanks Janice

Updated now with Dallas pictures - only the main page picture shows our 2 cellists, under "View Texas Photos."

Pittsburgh photos are updated now, too, Al.
