GARRYBL'S MYSTERY 4LETTER WORD

I love this kind of WP that makes me think about the theme, the trivia tidbits AND letter choices. I'm sure this type of WP is what will prevent me having Alzheimer's in the future.

Thanks Barry!

This is a good example of the kind of puzzle for which it can make all the difference in the world which phrase you happen to get first. I didn't "get it" until my third phrase -- and then, for the fourth phrase didn't need to guess any letters at all.

I love the concept and the challenge of each puzzle, but I thought the actual language of the puzzles wasn't very intuitive, and I was held up having to guess a lot of extra letters by an unnecessary plural. No way would I have gotten any of mine without letters no matter in what order they arrived -- that's impressive work, Zeedee.

Brilliant puzzle, Barry. Thanks for the effort. Given one of my phrases about a rather obscure subject, I'm sure it was not easy to create 10 of these.

I will echo Zeedee's remarks about luck of the draw in sequencing. The obscure subject I got fourth would have been impossible without understanding the clues.

And I still don't understand my first clue.

Well, it's over now, so can someone put me out of my misery? The most embarrassing thing is that I'm Jewish and have a bit of Yiddish, but hey, you can go blank in ANY language! I got one word possible but it makes no sense for the rest of the answers, oy vey es mir!

Nary an idea about the four letter word, even after completing the puzzle. Help!

Thanks. I actually had it, but saw one of the letters in a clue wrong, and got hung up on it. Sorry if I came close to a taboo.

Yeah, I misread M*l (same problem in V*l). Could be distinguishable with a font that shows small L differently from capital I.

Good point. I'l try to remember to put the clues in capitals in future; no control over the font it appears in, of course....

Barry, I think that's our problem, not yours.
