I owe you an apology for my "public" criticism of your "Malapropism" Kerblunk.
Thought when I clicked the little box at the end, that my comments would only
go to you.

Probably Buzzerman said it best, in his opinion " a number of these were not
true malapropisms...."

I should should not have been so edgy in my response and possibly would
not have been, if I hadn't perceived racism in one of the "correct" responses.
The Turban is a religious symbol for some - and therefore not an appropriate
subject for a pun.

I do try not to be publicly critical of anyone since the "furor" I caused last Fall,
and hope that you will continue writing your challenging quizzes.

Absolutely no problem. I have written some absolute cr*p and got away with it. I even got EA's for some of them ! I hope my mail to you explained some of the issues.

I for one love your kerblunks. I must have missed any racism or maybe did not take a quiz with any.
Keep up the good work.

I believe Racism is in the "Eye of the Beholder"
Unless you have been subject to it, you probably
wouldn't recognize it....

And every Race is capable of their own brand of
Classism and Racism

Arabs wear (blank) on their heads. I suggested "turbines" as a wrong answer. I do not have a racist bone in my body.

I am the white child of an Asian Mother....
Growing up, there were constant racist slurs and slams directed my way.
Because I Iook and speak English - I've always had "a foot in each camp"
And yet....even I can be guilty of inadvertant racism....

Nobody in this World is without "racist bones" because we all tend to
categorize people who are "different" from us. Hence the prevalence of
Racism, Sexism, Class-ism, Age-ism....and currently - this destructive
War between the different Religions.

We are told the Gulf War is about Oil and Money - but it's really against
the growing World dominance of the Muslim Religion, and the collapsing
of the Catholic and Protestant Churches in the western world.

Gee Dave,
I will have to take more of your kerblunks and quizzes so that I don't miss the racism that may be in one of them. That way, I will recognize what racism really is.
I must be very racist, as I can stand people that don't have very much knowlege to recognize facts, such as I must have not yet taken one of your racist quizzes.
I'm sure glad I'm smart enough to know the difference between recognizing racism and not seeing it in a quiz. I'm so thankful that cancer hasn't hit my brain. I would hate to live with one that doesn't function properly.

Rowlanda, you just made an excellent point and something I have pondered about. I believe you are right it is a class of religious ideology and the reason for most of the wars in ancient times.

Well, i am usually accused of being a "muslim sympathiser", and even an apologist for terrorism, so i suppose i should be appreciative of an alternate view. I am a member of the Stop The War Coalition, and i helped with the organising of "Viva Palestina". I am extremely pro Palestinian, and anti zionist. I don't believe the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have anything to do with spreading democracy, and certainly nothing to do with improving the lives of the indigenous populations. Through history christianity has been responsible for more pain and death than islam is responsible for today. As far as i'm concerned they are as bad as each other.
In the question that caused concern i had to find an alternative for "turban" that is not usually worn on the head. I chose "turbine" because it sounds vaguely like turban. If the question had been about Russians, and i had used "moussaka" instead of "ushanka", would that have been racist ? I have had around 670 quizzes and Kerblunks published, that's more than 6700 seperate questions. If this is the closest i have come to a racist slur, i consider i've done a pretty good job. Maybe my lack of jingoistic patriotism makes me a racist against my own people. Maybe my abhorence of US foreign policy makes me a racist against Americans. What do i know ? Do i care how others view me ? Of course i do.

I coached academic teams in a small Appalachian school for over 20 years. Because we were successful, we drew children of the professional families in the area, and our success was as much due to this parental involvement and strong work ethic as it was to anything I ever did. One time we were competing at a neighboring school, and one of their team members said to an Asian-American on my team, "You tawk funny. Where you from?" My student, whose parents had imigrated from China, looked him in the eye and answered, "Ohio." Which was true, in his case.

Next July 4th....

I'll be flying my "Stars and Strippers" flag,
and the Crescent Moon flag....
Just for a change...
Don't you think that will be hilarious????

Do you get the "lack of respect" now????
