Because I am bored I went through the top 30 quiz authors for this month to see how they score other peoples quizzes.
People currently ranked 1-10 scored others quizzes, on average - 6.95
People currently ranked 11-20 scored others quizzes, on average - 6.51
People currently ranked 21-30 scored others quizzes, on average - 6.29
the high and low were 7.86 and 4.92 and the top 30 average was 6.58
Not sure what that means, just thought I would share

I am currently 8th on the list.

I score other people's quizzes an average of 7.63

Other people score my quizzes an average of 6.9

I don't know what this means, but thanks to all who have given my many quizzes fair ratings.

Interesting bit of trivia. I never really understood the rating system when I first started. Was it judged by difficulty, cleverness, grammer, ability to challenge the intellect...

That is some interesting info. I feel I am a pretty good rater, so it is somewhat disheartening to see my quizzes in the 6.5 range. Especially when you consider the time it takes to come up with and research quiz material. I guess my subject matter leaves a lot to be desired by the qverage quiz taker. Oh well, I'll keep writing what I like anyway and will set aside my dream of being on the Top 10 list! ;0)

My quizzes have been rated at 6.6 average, and I rate at about the same level.

I am ranked number 7 on the leaderboards. Most of my quizzes are rated between a 6 and a 7.5.
That must mean someone likes them! I've gotten some low ratings also on quizzes that I spent alot of time on. I usually rate other quizzes a 7 or an 8. I very rarely give 9's unless the quiz is well written and something about it stands out. There have been a few quizzes on here that I have taken that I would have rated a 10 if that number was on the rating scale. Those quizzes stay with me and they teach me something too.

According to my stats, I give an average rating of 5.89. I feel this isn't really accurate, as I rated most quizzes 5s when I first started because I thought it was for difficulty. It wasn't until I wrote my own quizzes did I realize what the rating was about. So now I usually give 7s, except for fill in the blank-they get 6s. Only time it's lower is if I take a quiz that has obviously not been researched, thus costing me points.

Okay - I am sure I am going to upset some people here, and I don't mean to, but I have to be honest.

Several people have mentioned in various threads that their quizzes are not rated as highly as they would like. My average quiz rating on other people's quizzes is 5.76, which apparently is low, but the main reason is because I don’t find the majority of quizzes particularly interesting.

Consider the following quiz questions: (1) "Which Russian author won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958 for his novel about the Russian Revolution but was forced by the Kremlin to refuse it?" (2) "Who wrote "Doctor Zhivago"? They are both asking the same thing but the first question is so much more interesting because there is the potential to learn some interesting trivia. With the second question, you either know the answer or you don't.

No prizes for guessing which question would rate higher with me. I have found that many of the quizzes here are composed using the simplistic question method which is not interesting at all. In fact, many of the quizzes are made up of questions that are so simple that they are an insult to one's intelligence. I mentioned in another thread that quizzes which ask questions like "Which of the following is something you eat?" (paper, scissors, rock, bread) do nothing for me! I visit other quiz sites where these sorts of quizzes just would not be accepted.

Please don't "dumb down" your quizzes just to get a higher rating. I know there are some people who rates quizzes highly if they are easy and score well on them, but they are just feeding their ego. It does not reflect on the quality of your quiz - quite the opposite in fact.

I currently have an average rating from users of 6.6, and rate other peoples quiz around the same.

It is never easy to know which type of quizzes will generate the highest scores.
Certainly on analysing my own quizzes, over the months I have found use of the word "Easy" somewhere in the title does seem to increase the actual hits on your quizzes, as does using an informative title.

One area that does seem frustrating is simply the fact that some of my more challenging (and realistically) “better” quizzes always seem to score lower than these “easy” quizzes. But hey, you can only please some of the people some of the time etc etc.

Oh another area that can be frustrating is the volume of quizzes being generated, I released a quiz under “Movies and Television” category yesterday, only to watch it be knocked off the “New” list some 8 hours later !, this isn’t really giving people time to find these quizzes unless they go looking under a particular category, or looking for a particular authors work.

Regardless of scores, I would say authoring is a relaxing pastime, at least to me anyway. I am disappointed when one of my quizzes bombs or gets some low rating but hey it aint the end of my world and I can always go write another.

Thanks anyway to all of you who have taken any of my quizzes, hope you enjoy them. More coming soon ;o)

Just want to make sure that you realize those stats quoted were an average. I'm currently ranked #2 and I rate quizzes higher than my are rated. My average would be even higher and will probably get higher, as now I only take quizzes that look like "my kind of thing". I took some bad ones early on that I rated lower -now I just avoid them. Anyhow, I maintain, My average rating for other quizzes IS higher than what people rate mine!

Hi Asdibbens here, borrowing my wife's account, since we haven't had a spare twenty since I joined. Someday though... Course my wife worries that I'd spend all my time writing quizzes instead of taking care of the three kids, two cats and the puppy (Hmmm, wonder why we're broke). She's probably right, I would. Anyway, I just wanted to do three things with this post. 1. I'd like to thank everyone who have sent me kind notes who I was unable to thank previously. 2. I would like to thank the quiz authors (a number who have already posted on this thread) whose work I enjoy very much, but who I have been unable to send messages to for obviously the same reason. And 3. Just a note on my philosophy of quiz ratings. Being a writer myself, I do try to take into account the quiz author's intention for the quiz, is it supposed to be amusing, challenging, informative (nice thing about this site, we get quite a mix) and then base my rating on how well the author succeeded in achieving what I perceived to be their intent. My base score is usually a 7 if I feel some thought has been put into the quiz and gladly give out 8's and even the occassional 9 when I feel the quiz hit its mark, regardless of subject matter. Somehow I feel the ones where you can tell some time went into it deserve more than just a 5. Why scrimp on the higher numbers? How much better could a particular quiz possibly get? Personally, I like to be encouraging to those giving it some effort. Oh well, just wanted to mainly say hi. I felt kind of like I've been snubbing everyone.

Dear Asbdibbens, just in case I forgot to send you a private message, please allow me to say how much I enjoyed your quiz "The World's Most Spectacular Lunatics of All Time".

To other readers, I recommend this quiz and also "Famous Cat Lovers from History" (by Violetblue). Both quizzes are written in the style I mentioned above - the quiz questions contain interesting information.
