TQOTDS

The other thread is about the site and Justin, not TQOTDs. I am not going to continue pulling it off topic.

Each day, system willing, all of us receive a question of the day (TQOTD). We have 10 days to answer it before it expires. When we answer a TQOTD a record is created as part of your TQOTD log. That log shows every TQOTD you have answered since joining. It also show us a lot of other information.

Question ID number
Sent Date -- Date it was sent to you
Answered -- Date and time of day you answered the question
Wager -- Amount you wagered, if you wagered on a question
Speed -- Time it took for you to answer the question
Question -- The actually question
Answer* -- What you answered, and whether your answer was right or wrong

Given this information we can determine and will fix over 99 percent of TQOTD problems. Solutions can include adjusting a member's points and level points, or sending the member a new question. It is important to note that in all of these cases we can demonstrate sound data for the chosen solution. However, there is one noteworthy exception where we do not the facts allowing a sound resolution, which is why there was a asterisk after Answer.

* In the rarest occasion, a TQOTD record will have the word CLOSED printed in the space where your answer is supposed to appear. Why does this happen? We have assumptions, but have never been given a definitive answer. All we know is that in that situation, we have no idea on whether a person gave the correct answer, an incorrect answer, or no answer at all. In those cases, and they occur in well under 1 percent of TQOTD, perhaps under .1 of 1 percent of TQOTD, we have a policy for resolving them -- we send the member a new question (Please note that editors have no control over the category of replacement questions. They are selected by the computer/program.) We have resolved dozens and dozen of STs over time where a failed TQOTD displays CLOSED. We believe it is the fairest solution in respect to the overall site. It is consistent and non-subjective. No one has ever questioned or complained about this solution until now.

I know you editors do your best but if you let a few members distract you over simple TQOTD problems you will lose your mind. I think you all do a great job and after what was posted on the thread about the absence of Justin and how difficult your (editors) jobs are I have a much better grasp of the situation. Kudos to you all and I sure would not want your job.

I agree with Bobo
I don't care about some lousy points as much as I care about just being able to amuse myself with taking quizzes, kerblunks, and chatting with friends. This is a FUN web site, not a money making casino.

Might I add Laurie, the best to you and yours this holiday season. I think you have won over my heart with all your generosity of spirit for family and friends. Even though you have had health challenges you never cease to be pleasant and upbeat. I really like and admire your spirit. You make sploofus a better community and I enjoy your contributions. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity of your heart.
It is comments like that and the wonderful Sploofus family, along with my own personal friends and family that inspires me to keep on fighting to get well again, one day.
I'll have to admit that I'm just as guilty as anyone else of sometimes saying some things that might not be agreed upon by other's. Believe me, I think of things to put in a post, but never have the heart to do it because once something is said (or written) It can never be taken back. Sure, it's easy to say, "I'm sorry" but that doesn't always mean that hurt feelings go away. Most of the time I feel bad for just thinking about mean things.
The highlight of each day for me is to come on the computer and read and share nice emails, and to come "home" to my Sploofus family. I love all the fun and laughter I see here.
I'm happy to call you part of my family. I wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

I sill simply note that when (apparently Sploofus) software fails, the policy is to punish the member by making him/her answer another question when he already got the first one correct.

Since no member in his right mind will ever be satisfied with such, you would do well to reconsider this member-unfriendly policy and any others in the same vein.
