I just read that Tiger Woods has been hurt in a car accident in Florida.

Apparently he was listed as "serious" at one stage, but has already been released.........go figure?

(Posted in an earlier thread) Glad to know he has been discharged from the hospital;of course, per usual, the media suggested he was SERIOUSLY injured!
I was just going to post about Tiger's accident! It is reported he is seriously injured. I am curious as too how serious his injuries are, as reports are saying he BACKED UP into a fire hydrant and tree exiting his driveway, going less than 33 miles per hour. Hmmm. No matter, he was injured and I too hope Tiger will be okay.

Authorities: Tiger Woods seriously hurt in crash

Tiger Woods 12 mins ago
ORLANDO, Fla. – Tiger Woods was seriously injured early Friday when he hit a fire hydrant and a tree near his Florida home, authorities said. The Florida Highway Patrol said the PGA star hit the fire hydrant and tree as he pulled out of his driveway in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle. Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. Officials there did not have record of him as a patient, though the news release said Woods' injuries were serious. The highway patrol said the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending. However, the highway patrol said the crash was not alcohol-related.

Woods, 33, owns a home in the exclusive subdivision of Isleworth near Orlando. Orange County property records indicate his home is valued at $2.4 million.

Hey he is entitled to a fight with his wife, there have been rumors circulating that he is having an affair. BTW Andy that rag that your link came from TMZ have a show they are nothing if not grave diggers, no wonder stars punch out the papparazzi. He has more money than God so I am sure nothing will come of it. He probably didn't want to get her in trouble for spousal abuse. FHP, come on what a joke it was on his and next door neighbors property.

I know nothing of the source, Bobo, but the story matches what we know for all you people-watchers out there.

One report (obviously erroneous) that we had over here (UK) was that his wife had to break the window of the car so he could get out. Then she led him back inside. Hmmm....

Sun, 29th Nov '09 7:45 AM say the least! Here's a bit more of the scenario as it appeared this morning on a reputable source I was would say.

"So what's the big deal about a little car crash? A one-car accident in the middle of the night often raises eyebrows, if only among the neighbors. In this high-profile case, local cops said quickly that they didn't believe alcohol was involved and that it was being treated as a traffic crash, not a domestic issue. The problem for Team Tiger is that there remain plenty of tantalizing questions, and precious few answers.

Where was Tiger going in his car at 2:25 in the morning? On a diaper run? To 7-Eleven for a Slurpee? The drive-through window at Wendy's? And why did he crash? Most accidents occur within 25 miles of home, but Tiger's was within 50 feet of his driveway. What caused him to go off-road so quickly and lose a game of pinball to a fire hydrant first and then a tree? We don't know.

How badly was he really injured? Initial reports listed him in serious condition, but that is standard procedure for any patient who is hospitalized. Woods, who was reportedly unconscious for up to six minutes after the accident, was treated and released with nothing more serious reported than facial lacerations. Was he wearing a seat belt? We don't know.

Why did Elin allegedly smash the back window of the SUV with a golf club to help her husband get out? Initial reports stated that she heard the crash from inside the house and went outside to see what happened. Wouldn't it have been easier to grab a spare key or remote-entry device to unlock the doors, or at least smash in a smaller passenger side window? What was said in the 911 call to report the accident? We don't know that, either, but we soon will. Authorities plan to release those tapes, perhaps as early as Sunday.

And what about the rumors? A National Enquirer story leaked two days before the accident linked Woods to a New York hostess and reported that she was in Melbourne with him (and allegedly staying at the same hotel) while he played in the Australian Masters two weeks ago. The Associated Press took the claim seriously enough to contact the woman, Rachel Uchitel, who strenuously denied that she has been having an affair with Woods."

It's this salacious side story that has fuelled much of the coverage. At least one major entertainment website claims Elin Woods gave different versions of the accident to the Windemere Police and the Florida Highway Patrol. In a second version, told to FHP officers, the website cites an anonymous police source claiming that Elin caused Tiger's facial injuries during an argument (apparently about the alleged affair) and that she chased him with the golf club as he attempted to drive away, striking the vehicle with the club and distracting her husband seconds before the crash. The website also reported that there was no trace of blood on the steering wheel or dashboard, suggesting that Woods did not suffer his injuries in the collision.

Okay this is what I "heard" from TMZ and other rags, he and wife got into fight, she scratched his face up. He got into vehicle probably upset. He was taking prescription pain meds so probably was groggy, and backed into fire hydrant and a tree. It sounds as though he never got off private property. It also sounds like he wants privacy and doesn't want anything to come of it. I lived in Florida they are really bad about pressing charges for domestic violence even when victim wants it dropped. The same way we should probably drop it, cause quite frankly who cares? I don't even watch him play golf (the worlds most boring game to watch).

In France, Deedee?

It's pretty quiet. Gruesome crimes often in the headlines. Some flooding right now - worse in the UK.

At the stove, you asked?

Ready to make baked fish Veracruzana and Paella for the first time and for New Years a wonderful Salade Folle - foie gras, langoustines, smoked duck breast et al with truffle vinaigrette.

What are your latest culinary conquests?

Wowed my wife's in-laws two weeks ago with a local white wine for paella. They had insisted rosé was right and brought some. It was never opened. With paella that is at least 50% seafood Roussane/Marsanne wines are magical.

But right now though I feel lousy - blood test results tomorrow.
