Just rcently someone posted the name of an early spollofus author of quizzes.
Would the editors consider making a tournament of the old quizzes -- from say best of 2004/5/6 by month?
They could do it by simply looking at the ratings I suppose?

That is an excellent idea, sometimes when trying to find good quizzes I go to the back page but it is time consuming that would be great Barry.

Thank you for that fine suggestion. It may take a little work as most of those quizzes were not edited, but we do have the ability to go in, make revisions and get them to conform to the SQAG.
(We have not forgotten your other suggestions Garrybl and will try to incorporate those down the road as well).
Any other suggestions for Tournaments are also most welcome.

We had some very active members awhile back who are no longer around. They contributed some great quizzes - no reason we couldn't run tournaments of former members. Great idea!

I concur with the concept, but using only quizzes from the "archives", doesn't seem like an equal opportunity for all authors. It would be of benefit for those who joined during the suggested time frame, 2004-2006 and are still active in the community. I'm guessing that a great many of those authors, during those years, are no longer with Sploofus or, sit in the thousands of dormant accounts. I'm wondering if the tournaments would better serve all authors, including those still "live and kicking" who joined later than 2006. I'm not sure exactly how this could be accomplished, however, I do have a thought or two...maybe three. That's my two-cents worth!
Speaking of tournaments, I'd like to once more, touch upon the concept of a "tournament" and the definition of the word. The wording was a bit different, depending on the resource, but the definition held true. Tournament - "A series of contests in which a number of contestants compete and the one that prevails through the final round or that finishes with the best record is declared the winner." Several weeks ago, I dared to ask a question about the frequency of repetitive wins, monopolization if you will, of the "tournament" board. A battle of wills ensued and the thread became quite lively, resulting in a lot of ruffled feathers. The situation I addressed at that time has not changed and remains ongoing. I still maintain, this hinders, if not totally discourages a lot of other Sploofers, newbies as well as the seasoned, from participating. It has ceased to be a tournament...and has now moved from the sublime to the ridiculous.

The first Tournament of "Oldies but Goodies" is completed and will start on December 21. Please give us feedback if you have a chance to participate in it.
And Summertime your idea is a good one too. I believe it can be incorporated into future tournaments as well - perhaps something like the "Best of 2006"?

Oh, thanks for the update...sounds like it was in the works long before Barry made mention. Barry had suggested quizzes from 2004/5/6 by month; are these the years to be included in the "Oldies But Goodies" series? If so, then could you make it "The Best of 2007"!

DeeDee - What you really are requesting involves a change in programming. The editors cannot do that. We can put up new tournaments, but we cannot change the programming to include a timing aspect. We have, in the past, requested that placement in a tournament be based on a mathematical formula involving percent correct and shortest time, but that has not been programmed.

Hi "Sploofinder".

The only reason I asked about a tournament being titled "Best of 2007" is because "Sploofanini" suggested, "perhaps something like the "Best of 2006"?" for a future tournament. Barry's suggestion was to include quizzes from 2004/5/6 by month, which would eliminate including the quizzes of 2007; I think I responded to "Sploofanini" accordingly. I was not requesting a change in programming, but instead clarifing the year.

I've been here since 2004 and I think this is a great idea. I have gone back and redid alot of my older quizzes but there are still some out there that I haven't gotten around too...I can also see DeeDee's point in this too...maybe you could do like the top ten quizzes of each year without having to change the program..just a thought.
