EDITORS APPROVING TOO MANY QUIZZES

Okay...made ya look. I am so ashamed...not

Muse made a good point in the last item that has previously surfaced, but never really been addressed.

Some categories of quizzes generate more quizzes that others. The shelf life of a new quiz on the front page of sploofus (the time when it probably can garner its greatest number of hits) is very short (Muse said his quiz was on and off in 8 hours)

What do you, as quiz authors, see as the best solution?

Mince up the categories even more.

I am thinking prescribe a minimum time for a quiz to show on the "NEW" quiz list for a category. How long is that? 2, 3, 10 Days???

Toss some thoughts here and let's see if we can engineer a change and get sploofus to implement it.

ok, I'll post my idea here again - maybe repetition is the charm

I think that each member should be limited to one quiz, per category, per day. (and by category, I mean the whole category, not misc. TV in the Movies and TV category)

If we implement something like that, quizzes might get more 'air time'.

I also think it might help to improve the quality of our quizzes because knowing this is their one shot at that particular category for the day might give an author more inspiration. Does that make sense?

Maybe if none of the new quizzes were singled out as new then people would have to go directly into a catagory to find quizzes and all quizzes that you have not taken would be listed - that seems more fair to me.

I paid my money to lift my limitations on writing quizzes, at least partly. I think dropping the "new" page is better then limiting. Also strong enforcing of categories by the editors.

Too funny Tuzilla. You did make me look!
I like the idea of splitting up categories, esp Moveis&Television. Maybe we should see if there are suggestions for other possible Categories to add that may help with the congestion.

Well how about the quiz subjects contain the latest 20 quizzes rather than the latest 10. This would at least allow your quizzes a decent bit of exposure time.

Alternatively we go back to the pre-subscription days of 1 quiz per day, however is that not one of the main selling points of gold membership thus detrimental to Sploofus? (and more to the point what else would I do with my time ;o) !!!)
Regarding individual categories, another idea would be to split up the TV and Movie categories, along with the music category this could maybe be split into different music genres i.e Pop Music, Classical music, Bands etc etc etc.
Just a thought !

I like this discussion and am not advocating any particular solution...but I do have to agree with Machiabelly on the point of having paid the bucks to remove the limits, we should see limits imposed...

I was also think, after reviewing this about this, How about if:

The Main Trivia Quiz Page becomes a drop down menu for each of the main categories, and then you pick a subcategory from there that drops a list of new quizzes. Example:

You click on "Science"

It drops down the 5 subcategories

Astronomy (23)
Biology (52)
Chemistry (25)
General Science (393)
Physics (3)

Then you click on "Biology"

And it drops down the newest, say, 25 quizzes. Or it could drop the whole subcategory ranked by newness, or alphabet, or something like that.

There are a total of 141 subcategories. I suppose they could all show as links under their header on Trivia Quizzes page. And the page would actually still be shorter than it is currently.

One silly suggestion: if you notice a lot of quizzes in a category, maybe just lay off of it for a while. I stopped writing movie quizzes. I'm even trying to write some science quizzes! I figure there's not so much need in the other categories, so I'll make them where they're needed.
