The only ones worse than them is United Way. Look into how much the directors bring in each year. We were TOLD at school to donate to the United Way. I never did. Cancer Society is much the same way.

1mks - I'll have to defend United Way, as I'm sure Alvandy will when he sees your post.

I am on the board of directors of our local United Way. We have a wonderful director and assistant director (part-time) who not only pledge to United Way but also put in many more hours than they are paid for. Our assistant director is married (thus a 2-income family) and so she refused a raise when we did the budget last time.

Those two watch the office expenses as though it was their own money. (which it is in a way). I had to smile at our last meeting because the director handed out a thick packet of procedure updates held together with a metal clip. After we had put the updates in our big books, the director went around and picked up the metal clips!

I'm really proud of our local United Way. We work hard to manage the money efficiently, to support and promote our agencies and to come up with creative ways to raise funds for the local agencies.

But I understand what you are saying, 1mks. I wish all charitable organizations could be run as charitably and efficiently as our local group.
