I hope that someone will explain this one after it's over.

Until then I shall remain clueless!

I didn't get it while doing it, but upon reflection, I think I've got it now.

My first puzzle caused me problems figuring out where the theme fit, but I did well once that was solved.

I figured it out on the first one. However, I was pretty insistent on misspelling the same word twice.

As you can tell by my score, I was and am clueless.

What? No 5's from you guys with the humongous CD libraries? Oh, surprise. Gary is 1st.

Well, I did understand it even though I have no worthwhile recall of any of the subjects in my 5 phrases.

So 12th with an hour to go ain't bad. Only lost 100 points and didn't lose much ground to my closest monthly competitors.

(FYI there'll be a real word puzzle in just an hour)

OK yes I loved this puzzle - and have recordings of all 5 that I got. Coulda had a five if not for Mickey Rooney - even though I have every Kinks CD somehow I forgot that part of Celluloid Heroes. It did help getting Marilyn Monroe (twice) which were very easy. And I'm ashamed to admit it but I do own the amazing Taco recording of Puttin' on the Ritz.
I vote for more of these, but judging from some comments I may not get a second on that.

Gary, you're probably missing Steve who wrote lots of music puzzles.

Nice work. (I just try to get through these with a minimum of damage.)

I'm not a big fan -- too easy to google after your first phrase with five or so wasted guesses? At least that was my experience.

Barry, Only if you got it! Guess I never saw any of my 5 movies. Wish someone would publish the whole puzzle, would make a nice game for the holidays. Mickeym

Looks like there may still be some confusion about this WP's theme. Each of the clues was a movie star, and you had to identify the popular song that includes the star's name in its lyrics. For example, the answer to the clue "James Dean," was "Rock On by David Essex." That song mentions James Dean by name.

I'll second Gary's motion that we have more of these puzzles--even though I know that means more top scores for him!

I enjoyed this puzzle. Different strokes for different folks.
