Either my PC is disobeying commands or there is a new home page format which I most emphatically do not like. Please tell me it's my PC...?

And when did we get drop down menus - have I missed them before somehow? I quite like the changes it will help get around faster.

I was also surprised and pleased at the drop down menus - saving a click or two will get me TONS more Sploofus points

I liked the old format. It never slowed me down and my clicks worked better than the new drop downs which are too sensitive. Sploofus,,If it wasn't broke, why did you fix it??

Well...obviously it isn't me or my PC, so it's the new Sploofuslook...count me with the negatives. I knew where I was going before, and now I don't

Seems like the new drop down menu may take some getting used to. It is still possible to navigate without using the drop downs by clicking on the selection bar like we always have. I like being able to go directly to the sub menus. My vote is for the new format.

Also like the Editor's Award category. Can see what each editor has given an EA.

I hate to complain, but I agree that they seem overly sensitive. The drop-downs sometimes cover what I'm looking for. Could they be reined in a bit?

Nothing has changed with the site or the top level menus other than the pop-up menus that appear when you mouse over a link. You can still browse the site exactly as you did before these menus were put in place if you do not wish to use them.

My thoughts were that it would make the many pages of Sploofus more discoverable and accessible from any other page on the site.

I am going to leave the new menu system up as is for a week or two (it took me nearly a full day to program it), and then run a user poll for direction.

My best guess is that after you get used to the new menus you will wonder how you ever navigated the site without them. We'll see...

Perhaps a simple "toggle switch" in an account preferences page that allows you to enable/disable the dynamic navigation menus?

I have to admit that I was at first annoyed by the unexpected appearance of the drop down menus ... but I have found that I do enjoy moving around the web page faster. WTG, Sploof!

The "toggle switch" that allows each Sploofuser to choose his/her preference is a good idea. Just drop us a note in the Hotline so we know it's there!

I vote no on the drop down menu. It is a great idea, but not if you have webtv.

I like the drop down menu idea, but when I am doing WR or WP or just now clicked to respond here, I get all these brown lines with white in between and have to scroll half way down the page to find what I need. THAT I don't like; otherwise, sometimes I do get the dropdown part and not sure how I got it, as when I go to use it, it doesn't drop.

I think drop-down menus are GOOD. They eliminate paging through the site to get to your desired destination. But implementation varies, and betcha can’t find one that everyone likes.

One problem I’m having is the “steady hand” to move and keep the cursor in the drop-down and click before the menu disappears, especially for the nested ones (down-right-down-right…oops! where did it go?). I’ve seen only three levels, and hitting the third can be tough. Will take practice.

Another is that if you are on a page in which the drop-down covers a gif with a hyperlink, and you mouse-over where the gif is, the drop-down seems unstable. Even if you can keep the cursor in the drop-down frame, the gif seems to “bleed through” and the drop-down disappears. Part of it seems to be you have to have your cursor over text in the drop-down and not just in the drop-down frame.

If you are on a page with a gif or jpg (e.g., the WTHAI jpg, which does not have a hyperlink) behind the drop-down, any text associated with the picture pops up on top of the drop-down. Not instantaneously, but if you are going a bit slow...

If you have just completed a WR and try to use the drop-down menus, the menus appear BEHIND the Flash Player frame of the animated buggy-thing, making the hidden links on the drop-down inaccessible.

Is it possible to use click-to-show, click-to-hide drop-downs? You will find people who hate that, too, but it does let you browse the site options without paging.

What about a slight delay (milliseconds) before the pop-up appears, so you don’t accidentally mouse-over and pop it immediately?

Whoas the can of worms? Maybe I'll just delete the new menus...

The leaderboards seem to upload a lot faster with the drop downs. I like them pretty well. You can still use the old way as far as I know. They seem to move around more easily. Maybe the toggle thing was a good idea if it's not too complicated. Thanks Justin!

I like the new menus as well. It does take a steady hand sometimes, but the more I get used to them, the more I like them.

I think they're great. I like being able to get right where I want to go without having to click through a bunch of pages.

I like the new menus. It is easier to navigate. Some pages load quicker now as well. Please keep the dropdowns, they are a great new feature.

I like the dropdowns generally, but note two points:

- a tiny delay before they come up would be a good idea; if you want a link that's near them and move the mouse a bit far they cover what you want

- I found that the 'sorry' graphic on the WR comes up *over* the menus, so you can't use them ...

I agree with Carreau. The drop down menus cover things that I am looking for, and this causes me to lose valuable time on tqod and showdowns.

I have gone from quite liking the drop downs to lovingthem. I am on a very slow dial up and to be honest there were things I never bothered with as it took so long to go form page to page to get there.
I am now getting to discover places I have not been in moths and as a result my enjoyment of the site has grown again.

Great work Justin

I really like the dropdowns too! Shaving those extra clicks to get to my Sploofus Space is definitely nice!!

Another vote for liking the drop down menus!

One compromise would be for them not to appear until you click on them, like on Firefox.

The drop downs are miserable with webtv. Any way we can block them would be a huge help. They use up so much time in puzzles and word rounds. Thanks.

I love the dropdowns and agree with Tuzilla's suggestion. It would be a shame to get rid of them so quickly...let's hang in there a little longer!
