2010 DEATH POOL

Ok, traditionally these are launched on Xmas with a NYE deadline. Ok, here is how it works.

http://deathpoolers.com/rules_2007.html

Basically, by NYE midnite each player posts here in the thread 20 names of people you are betting will die in 2010.

There are a million rules in a million pools, but here are the major ones for me:

1. For every year under 90, you get a hundredth of a point bonus. Every death gets 1 point, but then, say you hit a grand slam, like I did in 2007 with Anna Nicole Smith. She was 39, so I got awarded 1.51 points.

2. It has to be someone "famous".....over the years with me the best argument here is merits a NY times obit. Fair enough it seems.

3. You can't kill them yourself. Even if it is legal like you are cop tracking the unabomber, or a green beret after Bin Laden.

It is midnite eastern to midnite eastern. One year I got ripped off when they hung Saddam right after midnite. Inconsiderate bastards.

Ok, if you are going to post some handwringing "I'm a meanie flame" just note the thread title and ignore it for the next year. I mourn as much or more than anyone for the deaths of people involved in the game.....who aren't on my list.

We should have something at stake, maybe Justin will throw something in. Free platinum for 2011.

C.C....
As far as I can see you are only middle aged
Not sick....from everything we've heard....
and probably lead a fairly healthy lifestyle, as
you are in construction (outdoors)

I doubt if you are going to "pop your cloggs"
in the next 12 months!!!!
And yes....the pun was intentional.

Everyone who takes part in this game needs to feel a deep sense of SHAME. This is just wishing that a certain number of people will die. DISGUSTING, is what I call it. SHAME on all of you.

There's a difference between wish lists and prediction lists. Many of us may predict Abe Vigoda will go soon to the Great Fish Bowl In The Sky, but few are really eager for that to happen. On the other hand, deep in the darkest recesses of our hearts, we probably know a few people whose absence we'd hardly miss, and yet we have no particular reason to believe their days are numbered. Separate creatures.

Barnie: would you feel better if my list was:

Robert Mugabe, dictator of Zimbabwe, where a loaf of bread cost 1 billion dollars and unemployment is 85%?

OMar Al-Basir of Sudan, who is in control of the extermination of the entire country of Dufar?

Kim Jon-II of North Korea, perhaps the most down-trodden and repressed nation on earth?

Than Shwe of Myanmar, who did'nt allow the Red Cross or any humanitarian aid into the country after an earthquake?

Oh, wait....there's more:

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabi, where the oppression of women is one of the worst on earth?

Isam Karamof of Uzbecastan, who is hoarding uranium and selling it to the highest bidder?

AND.....last but not least....

Each and every man that has ever touched a child in a sexual manner.

Now, you still ashamed of us?

Leaston, Eli Wallach may be 94, but he just performed for the president on Dec. 12th, so I wouldn't hold my breath! Remember George Burns?
Rowlanda, Stephen Hawking has a disease like Lou Gehrig's disease, but not the same. He's defeated it for decades. Another not so great choice.

barnierubble plays bridge under the name of Bill Sherman. Abe has never shown up at the bridge table but Associate Judge John Paul Stevens does. Do not put him on your list. The judge is immortal.

Allena's list: (you did say 20)

Fidel Castro
Nancy Reagan
Lauren Bacall
Andy Rooney
Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano
Robert Byrd
Roger Ebret
Jerry Lewis
Elizabeth Taylor
Don Imus
J.D. Salinger
Bernie Madoff

LONG SHOTS

Mike Tyson
Dick Clark
Rod Blagojevich
Tatum O’Neal
Danny Bonaducci
Ryan O’Neal
Gary Coleman
Paula Abdul

It would be a shame if all of these newsworthy folk, passed away. We would still have Dan Rather and Mike Wallace though.

He was 42, so .48 point bonus...I'm in second place with 1.48 points.

I think if you scan the list you'll find others.....

Almost nobody put in 20 names as per the rules...maybe we should start a half year one July 1.
