From 15-20% of your average department store annual sales now happens during the first week after Christmas. Although I would think that if the store sells alcohol or other New Years Eve supplies, I suppose the percent could run higher.

No bargins are worth the crowds of people fighting over a few measly items left that will just be back on the shelves by Halloween.

Laurie, I'm anti also. The crowds just creep me out.

Have to laugh about everyone's use of the term Boxing Day. The first I ever heard it was when we met people from Manchester, UK. The US doesn't use it at us there is Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas!

I'm sorry to disagree with such nice Sploofishes, but I love the crowds on the day after Christmas and was sad that our weather kept us in today. Perhaps you have to be born in a crowded city to enjoy this?

But what's with taking Christmas down BEFORE Christmas? I was in a Wal-mart before noon on Christmas eve, and they took away the whole quick gift section with the store jammed with people with full carts trying to get...quick gifts! Huh?
