I know that there are many of you out there in Sploofville. My family and I are having a Harry Potter party in November. I was wondering if any of you had ideas about food, games, or decorations.
Here's what I have so far:
Recipes for Butterbeer, pumpkin juice, pumpkin pasties, acid pops, and shepherd's pie. I also thought I'd just make a huge platter of sausages and chicken legs.
Decorations: A troll for the basement, spider webs and specimen jars for Snape's potions room,
Moaning Myrtle for the bathroom, and a quidditch match to hang from the ceiling.
Any thoughts?

Oh Oh Oh! Also! If you go to a part shop (Like Zurchers) usually you can buy little black plastic cauldrons for about $10. A few of these with some dry ice, coloring and/or black lights goes a long way!

Oh, forgot to mention. . . COSTUMES!

I'm going to be Rita Skeeter, my dad's Hagrid, brother's Lockhart, sister's Fleur, brother-in-law's Dobby, sister-in-law's Prof Trelawney, grandma's Arabella Figg (she hasn't read the books, and we didn't have the heart to make her a muggle, so she's a squib), family friends are Oliver Wood and Hermione, and their kids are the Creevey brothers. My nephew (pictured at left) will be the Boy Who Lived.

I own Harry Potter Scene it, and have thought of making a quidditch obstacle course. I also have made some trivia questions, and have a game I made called First Name/Last Name.

My dad's going to pick up guest on the other side of our pond (first years!) and they will then walk through the "Forbidden Forest" to Hogwarts.

Well, no wonder you haven't gotten it. You should be looking out your window, or in your chimney.

I'm jealous as well. As a matter of fact I just started to read #6 as it just just came out in paper back in a HP party sounds really good at this point...Have a great time, I have no doubt whatsoever that your party will be a big success.

Your invitation will probably come by "Owl Post"!

I am so impressed! I'm with Tuzilla, waiting for an owl with an invitation. Please don't make it a howler!

Sirius, you are, as ever, a font of knowledge on all things HP. Thanks for your suggestions. Anyone else have any?

If the weather is fine, I agree with Sirius that a broom race would be a blast. Make it a relay race. You run with your broom (between your legs as if flying) to the end of the Quiddicch field. Turn around & come back. It might be even more fun if more than one person rides the broom at once! Two people race to the end, come back, dump one and pickup another!

What, no Weasleys??...

I found a page about Harry Potter birthday parties, where people desribed the parties: decorations, games, activities, food, etc. There are over 100 parties described!! There are some quidditch games that look like fun...the page is:

It may take more time than you want to spend to browse it.

I know, I love the Weasleys, too! Maybe my mom will be Molly. She is having trouble deciding.

Thanks so much for the link, I'm sure it will be very helpful.
