I have no clue how your mind works.

Lost a ton of letters on a couple of mine but I think your puzzle is brilliant. More please.

There were a few phrases where I didn't get the reference and/or the clues even after they were solved - my movie knowledge definitely didn't help much on this one! =) But it was fun and I appreciated the challenge. Encore! More WPs that can't be solved in 5 by Googling!

Very entertaining puzzle, Barry, BUT

ya know, people who think up puzzles like this have WAAAAY TOOOOOO much time on their hands

I have to admit I couldn't figure out a couple of references even after I'd solved the puzzle. Not even Googling helped me find one of them. Then again, this puzzle is way out of my area of expertise, at least in one respect, so I'm not surprised it gave me such fits.

Having done a couple of WPs with Barry I think I have a glimpse into the intricacies of his thought processes (which really helped on this one). This puzzle is also a perfect example of the scarily brilliant tangents that he can draw. Got my first three very quickly and then got stumped on one where I got a couple of pink screens before I smacked myself in the head for making such dumb guesses. These are usually my favorite kinds of puzzles, so gotta give a big to Barry for this one.

Barry, could you hear the moans? Wonderful fun but painful when it became obvious...thanks.

Actually less completely baffling than most of Barrys. Enjoyed this one, mate!

This was a fun puzzle with a great concept. I was a bit grumpy after I encountered the error (that was later corrected), but no big deal--as long Barry doesn't know the exact content of the curses I directed towards him earlier today.

It was Daveguth who pointed out my error (no one to blame but me!).
Each clue was a classic movie adapted to include the name of a hall of fame baseball star

The wild bench
Berra my heart at wounded knee

etc etc

Each clue tried to refer to both the player and movie; but I foolishly clued Cardinal 'Flash' Frankie Frisch in
the Frischer King using Beau Bridges (Beau's a flash card) not Jeff Bridges; apologies to all.

That explains some of it. I Googled "Frischer" and "catcher" and came up dry, having never heard of Frankie Frisch. And I have to admit it never occurred to me they were all in the Baseball Hall of Fame until I read your message. Not that that would have helped much!

I've never heard of Frankie Frisch either so the clue, whether Beau or Jeff, didn't mean anything to me. I recognized three of my players, which isn't bad, I guess, since I don't follow baseball. But I imagine a lot of the baseball fans had never heard of *The Go-Between* so it was an equal opportunity toughie.
