SHOWDOWN CHALLENGES..10% IS NOT 10%.

I sent in an error report a few weeks ago about not receiving the documented 10% on winning a Showdown Challenge.

I have only been receiving less than 5% on my Showdown winnings.

No response.

I realized and some other members responded to me that they are no longer being Challenged.

Why wager 10% on a challenge when you cannot win 10%?????????

I posted this in the 'Shout Box' and some responded that pay-offs are cut off at 214,000,000.

No where on this site is this stated...............................

I am a Platinum Member.

I just can now use my TQOTD tokens?

What am I paying for and playing for?

I would appreciate responses from members and Hosts.

Thank You,
Bob

One of these days, we'll set up an FAQ List and I can finally retire.

The short of it is, it's a feature. Or a bug. Or an undocumented feature. Whatever. Editors can't do anything about it. It's in the programming, and only Justin has access to that. My understanding is that the data structures used to represent the points involved in Showdowns are only 32 bits long, and because of that, they can only represent positive and negative numbers up to 2.14 billion or so. Divide that by 10, and you see what this hard limit is.

Do we wish this limit would be either fixed or better announced? Of course. Does it hinder our enjoyment of the game? Not really for most of us. While you can't haul in those really lucrative point totals, you're also not risking as much either, so it's really a double-blunted sword.

Speaking as a player, my reluctance to initiate Showdowns is less due to the number of points at stake than it is to the fact that I'm not sure I'm being timed correctly and getting a fair chance to win. Others may feel that way too.

One other thing: If you want a response, don't submit a bug or an error report. Submit a Support Ticket. Those will get you to a live editor who will answer your questions or solve your problems.

I appreciate your response.

The above was posted by a Sploofus Editor.

My initial question was based on why should I stage a Showdown knowing I cannot win the stated 10% but can lose 10%??????

Now I see that editors "are not getting a fair chance to win".

JUSTIN...............................................HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't lose 10% either. The most you can lose is the same as the most you can win, roughly 214 million.

So the data structure for the Showdowns are different from the Wager Tokens????????? The Wager Token Data Structures are greater?????

As I recall, Justin did a specific adjustment to the system to handle the issue of Wagers. Showdowns may be on his list of things to do, but such a change has not been implemented yet.

He likely has more pressing issues. Changing such things is beyond the ability of the editors. We can only try to keep all of you informed.

Now I just found out that besides 10% is not 10%, that if you use a wager token on the TQOTD and wager the max, you cannot wager the max. So, 25% is not 25%. It is also capped.

That seems to be true, but the cap is much higher. I just wagered the max and was able to wager 1,000,001,118. It was only 18.76% but still much better than 214,000,000.

The max 214,000,000+ is for a Showdown victory. Not 10%.
Your 1,000,001,118 was the max 1,000,000,000 on a Wager Token plus the 1,118 for the correct answer. Still not 25%.
Two different things.
