I love WR's...honestly I do. But it was becoming obsessive. I would really like to put more effort into writing quizzes. So, you guys, know that I haven't fallen off my perch - not yet, anyway. I'll check in with you now and then. Behave yourselves and have a blast in Chicago. You all are great! Stay in touch.

WRs are kind of like shooting heroin or smoking crack. I've been there, but I'm clean and sober now. So far.

Thanks for the heads up. I will still look for you online. And, hey, look at the Shout! now and may be called!

Okay, now to get serious....give up WRs?...

When I first joined, I used to play often (even came in Top Three for the month a couple times). One day I got totally burned out. It happens! I have played one or two rounds a month since then.

Just last night, though, I noticed the new stats on my profile page and seeing that "lame" average time (by current standards, anyway) made me want to start playing again to try to decrease my time.

Careful. That average time is only for your Top 3 finishes. So you'll have to put yourself into hard training to put a dent into that average.

(For those who have been away for a while, at peak times nowadays, 20.00s might be good for about 8th place.)

That is soooo true. I've seen WR's that have 7 or 8 people in the teens. And, as stated, at peak times you can rip off a 23 second round and NOT make the top 25!

23 seconds is lightning-fast for me, and my average on my page is kind of deceiving as two of my first places were flukes. Which seemed to have slowed down lately. I think Justin is giving the server steroids. Now the only time I have long load times is due to my ISP,...thanks Comcast! Movies that suddenly lock up, and drop-o'-the-hat internet mishaps,...all for $139.00/month.

But, there is some very bright folks out there in this big ol' world. And I'll never stand a chance against them. I just do the best I can and plod along at 500pts/hr

Guess that's why I play about 18 WR's a day,

I'm surprised that you say that 23 seconds won't get you in the top 25. We're fast, but not *that* fast!

A *few* times I have logged on at work between 10AM and 3PM EST at about 5 minutes before the hour. And the last time in the top 25 is 22 secs and change. All 100%.

Trust me, I play 15-20 WR's a day.

Yeah I have seen rounds in hours where my little 23 second round hasn't even kept me in the top 25 during the day. My big wins happen in the middle of the night when normal people are sleeping. Except that one time....and I still have the screen print of my 18.306 second round and finishing 3rd during the 7pm EST WR hour hanging on my fridge door. LOL I am such a DORK. Too bad those teen rounds are elusive to me or only come at 80-90%

So how exactly do you quit? Is there a 12 step program? Do you have a support network? Did you get the DTs? What is the recidivism rate?

Please let me know...

Kelly asks how to quit? Fortunately, my personality is like a stove with two settings "on and off." 25 years ago I said I had it with smoking...smoked 2 packs a day and quit on a Tuesday with a cartoon full on the refrigerator - dumped them under water so I wouldn't fish 'em out of the trash, and that was it. I replaced cigarettes with exercise, cooking and gardening. If you feel something is interferring with your life and what you hope to accomplish during the day, then it's time to quit - at least that's the way it works with me. You might have another approach. Don't worry, I'll drop in now and then to annoy you! Claire

I stand corrected! I don't get to play much in the middle of the day, so I missed out on those super fast rounds! Whew!

My 19-second round came in 4th yesterday, but I have managed to get in 1st on a dawdling 25 seconds once, in the middle of the east-coast-USA night.

It often depends on the time of day you dive in..........!!

I finally had to quit cold turkey. I haven't played a single word round since early July. Being on clinical rotations kinds helps me because I am so busy all the time!

I may go back and play a few, but by judging what others have said, I probably won't ever see my name in the top 25 again.

Good job guys! I need to get back into WR practice. My mouse is crappy and just frustrates me during WR's as every little second counts.
