As Sploofus is a multi-national community - may I take this opportunity to wish all those in Texas and Lousianna in the path of Hurricane Rita a safe weekend. Even here in London I can assure you that all of you are in all our thoughts and we are hoping for the best.

Well said Imatfaal....we had a tornado up here in Birmingham a few weeks ago that only devastated a small area, but it sure brought home how dangerous and frightening they must be over in the US.
Stay safe everyone in the US! My thoughts will be with you too.

Just heard that the Levees in New Orleans broke again - more disaster for that area. We in Michigan have been able to take in many of the refugees from Louisiana - hopefully Rita won't do the damage that Katrina did. We still have some good friends from Louisiana we are not sure where they are.

Another message fom london
Just to add my hope that all American Sploofus members will be safe and uneffected by the oncoming hurricane. It is unfair! I think Katrina was enough.
My thoughts are with you. Take care

I'm just waiting for President Bush to find a way to blame it on Al Qaeda.

Seriously, it is scary stuff. My parents, one brother and lots of cousins, neices & nephews live around Houston & Beaumont. I've been through a couple of hurricanes. YOu just have to prepare for the worst & hope for the best. Going to higher ground doesn't hurt either.

It was the Liberals. There weakness of character brought the wrath of the Almighty down on our great nation...or is that too Jerry Falwell/Pat Robertsonish?

I actually heard someone say a few weeks ago that God was trying to wash New Orleans clean. Now, I live in FL, and if that's the purpose of hurricanes, he tried 4x to clean us up last year-yet Jeb Bush is still here!

I have to agree with Tuzilla. I'm sure we're gonna see Jesse Jackson and Hilary Clinton trying to catch some TV time in the next few days.

I hope everybody has found a safe place to stay.

A tornado in Birmingham!!! That's unreal. I didn't hear about it, and am surprised. What is going on with the world.

Sandra do you mean Birmingham UK? Yes there was one there a couple of months back and it did cause a fair bit of damage, but believe me it was a gust of wind compared to what is happening in the USA at the moment.

My thoughts are with you all at this horrendous time and I pray that you all stay safe form harm.

to our wonderful friends abroad in the UK........we love you and the depth of your hearfelt sympathies.

Cleansing or not, it's still painful to watch; but on the bright side there is hope, and it's magnificent to see the love and charity that abounds in others.

Kindest regards,
