Have I just been unlucky over the last 20 weeks to be only challenged 4 times?

I always challenge somebody as soon as I get my showdown token, I have no fear of losing them because I know I will win enough to make the points up that I lose.

Are people hoarding their showdown tokens for fear of losing?

I would be interested to hear.

Having only just upgraded my computer from wood burning to steam, I daren't touch Showdowns until my time reduces from around 3 hours 30 mins ............
I have around 50 Showdown tokens for sale.

I have 55! I have actually used only one. Even though I won that Showdown, I am just not a gambler at heart and haven't risked it again. Right now, I am in a slump with TQOTD and don't have the confidence to challenge anyone. I seem to have a problem with levels that end in '3'. Although I really don't remember Level 3, Level 13 was interminable and Level 23 has turned into a nightmare. If I ever get back on a roll, I'll try to get up the nerve to use one of those tokens!

Basically, yes - I hate using the showdown tokens because you have absolutely no control over the questions! At least with the wager tokens you get to choose the category, and since with showdowns the person being challenged loses nothing I think it's unrealistic to expect people to make challenges when they will lose so much on a bad question.

I've always said that, because of that, I think on a showdown the challenger should be able to choose the category, but as long as we don't get to do so, I'll issue a showdown only on the same day that I've won a wager, since I'll have 'points to spare' at that moment!

Berylm that is a great point.
I suppose it comes down to whether or not you hate losing.

Personally I don't really mind losing a showdown if I know that in the future I can win the points back. So I suppose it is all relative really.

See to all the people who don't challenge others for fear of losing do they still take the challenges of others because there is no risk?

If that was the case then those that like to challenge are at a total disadvantage.

I think your idea about the showdown challenger being able to select the category that the question is from would actually be a great idea, although to make it fair it should be similar to the Trivia Question Of The Day, in that the standard of the question should reflect the level the challenger is on. (obviously only if they could select the category).

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Baggiob I have 102 tokens...I'll gladly sale you some of them if you want....I'm not much of a gambler either....If we could chose the category and or question I might think about issuing a showdown....
