JUST ONE SMALL THING, JUSTIN

Justin, a week or so ago, you requested suggestions for site repairs. The conversation (again) turned into a lengthy debate about chat forum etiquette. Seeminly forgotten after all that, some actual bug fixes were requested in that thread.

It's certainly possible that you're now working on tools to help the editors, and other important fixes to keep the site running smooth. Those, I believe, are the highest priority.

However, is it possible for you to make just one small fix that will let us know you intend to keep the site in top shape--sort of a sign that you're paying attention? My suggestion for this small fix is to remove "Wheatpenny" from the top of the January Word Puzzle leaderboard. I'm guessing this must be a very trivial fix, but apparently you are the only one who has to ability to perform this clean-up.

Seeing that silly data error removed will not only fairly put Slicko back on top of the leaderboard, it will show that you care about the site.

Thanks.

Note: this message is really only intended for Justin to respond to.

OMG...The WP ranking shows that Wheatpenny has a total of 4,294,967,295 points for the January WPs, a quite impossible feat, yet his homepage indicates a total of only 110,345 points for the past 30 days. I think Daveguth has a valid request!

While you're at it, you could go back and fix the same glitch which gave Mangoes111 top WP billing back in September.

My earlier bump was deleted (too over the top?), so this time I will restrain myself.

And while you're at it, please correct the results of the 2004 ALCS and the 2000 Presidential election and the 1939 partition of Poland and ...

Wouldn't it be nice, Ken, if we could alter any of those past events with a 1-minute fix in a database?

As an IT Manager, I wonder how I would react if I asked one of our programmers to make a 1-minute fix, and he/she responded, "So I suppose I'm supposed to fix the 2000 election too!"

I do understand your frustration, Dave. I hope that Justin can get to this one in time.

I have not been concerned in the past about editors' deletions of offensive or inflamatory posts. I understand things have been written using offensive language or attacking other sploofus players and I agree they should not remain on the chat forum. I do not understand why the post that had "bump" written quite a number of times was deleted. It was not offensive or inflamatory, just amusing.

So how does "bump" amuse? I myself prefer my posts with content.

Funny how the word "bump" gets deleted but not hyperlinks with bad language and prejudice statements, in a mere song for kids to hear if the link is opened. I was told that they did not feel that it was NOT family friendly and remains on The Sploofus Corporation web site. Must be one of the advantages allowed for volunteering or maybe just different opinions of what is or is not family friendly.
Don't fret..I won't say the B word. I wouldn't want to give a reason to delete this and also will not say what post, incase there are children around.

Now that's funny, Asor. I wonder if it will last.

Ken, not sure why you think "bump" was meant to amuse. It's only used to put the thread back on top with the faint hope that Justin might see it and actually take the minute to delete Wheatpenny's score.

The purpose is not for him to read the filler; it's to keep bumping the thread up to the top in hope (however vain) that he'll actually see it, read it, and take the requested action.

Doesn't much matter what we say.

Toaster.

I, for one just happen to be having a little fun with with Asor.
Nothing wrong with Asor and I joking around and giving me a little laughter in my life.
Besides, YOU read the "fillers". Who says Justin won't if he ever comes back?
If I open a thread and don't care for what's in it, I don't bother opening it again.
Sounds like common sense, to me.

If it's OK with Ken, here's one last "bump" to see if Justin can remove Wheatpenny's score before the January WP contest is over.

I guess it's no big deal. Slicko will get a "Congratulations, you're number #2" message, I'll get a #3 congralutations, and Anne (Virtus) will get zip. We'll all live.

But seems to me this is pretty good evidence that Justin is not paying attention. Wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't told us exactly the opposite a few weeks ago.

Dave, rather than one small fix, I think we need to hear from Mr Sploofus on a regular basis.

Whaddaya think of that?

Sure, Andy. But we really can't expect him to be here on a regular basis if he can't manage a 1-minute database deletion (or even comment on).

And, of course, by Psalm 69:28 I mean:

Erase their names from the Book of Life; don't let them be counted among the righteous.

Hey Justin,
How's that extended month working out for everyone?

Oh, and I'm glad to see that the money everyone sent you to get to Florida, have a cell phone and especially have internet access worked out for you.
Hope the beaches are as nice as they were when I was there.
