WHERE HAVE THE QUIZZES GONE?

I just noticed that the quiz section of ones you have creates has changed.

Mine now do not show up any of the quizzes that I have created and am waiting for them to be launched and other i was going to launch over the next week.

Please tell me this is a technical hitch becuase if i have lost those quizzes I will not be a happy camper.

And i also just noticed that it claims that we get more points the harder the quizzes are?
So if we author a quiz that is impossible we get more points than one is easy.
Please please pleaselet this be a mistake too.

Sorry meant to say the points system seems ok but not the fact that it appears that you cannot author more than one quiz at a time without launching them there and then.

Hmmmm - there is a mystery afoot.

Sploofus had a snaffoo a few months ago where all the quizzes were zero'd out. Then within a short period of time, all was right in the universe. Hopefully this will be resolved as wonderfully.

Totally,
this isn't a complaint from me really because we all know that the improvements that are done to this are in the whole fantastic, so hopefully this will be just a glitch

fingers crossed - etc. I had a few in the works, hadn't written a question yet, gathering thoughts about the quizzes, however, my daughter has a bunch of quizzes 1/2 written that would be tragic to lose.

Looks like a change in the wind and a work in progress!

The new text implies the author will get more points for a difficult quiz. Now, if the quiz taker gets more points for taking a difficult quiz, this is going to be awesome!!!

Guess we need to be patient and wait...

Missashlee in response to that, here is a thought.

Many people may be put of taking a quiz that is hard so thus even though the quiz is impossible the points will still go up even if less people take it.

What if everyone just gets point hungry and tries to make harder quizzes and thus people stop doing them because the enjoyment has gone.
The quizzes though (it is my understanding) get their rating by how well people do at them, so I suppose it is all relative.

I would be so annoyed though if the quizzes i had written but not launched yet never came back, there was about 40 of them and i really can not be bothered doing them again. lol

Man Bag - do you have a lot of time on your hands or what - you've like a million quizzes and 40 more to boot. I'd love to have that kind of time. Keep up the good work.

That's what I mean.

To give incentive to people to take hard quizzes, give the quiz-takers more points for each question they get right, based on the difficulty factor.

Otherwise, most may just avoid the difficult quizzes altogether, and the author gets very few points.

We'll see...

cheers for that, you see when i have time i tend to write a lot of quizzes but not launch them all at the same time.

Anyway i just got a message back from an editor to make a change to my quiz before re-submitting it, which i can't do at the moment because it's not there, so fingers crossed this will get sorted out soon.

I went to Create A Quiz to work on some that I had started, and they're not showing, including the September Quiz Challenge. Guess I'll have to wait to work on it.

Bag- if you have 40 new quizzes ready to pop up, please let us know which categories you'll be taking over so we can do quizzes in the other areas.

Maurlin , sorry i might not have made this clear i wasn't going to launch them all at the same time. I was thinking of launching 5 of them every couple of days or so.

They are mainly music and sports, but I promise I will only launch 5 or less at a time.

Cool - that way you don't pop us out of the "new" categories and we can get some takers too. I just shot a new quiz out (quicklike) and there were 38 ahead of me. It does not appear on my list of quizes either. Weird. Just wanted to test the problems and see if I could shoot a quiz through.

So uhh who do we talk to that actually knows something? I mean abotu the sploofamatic problems?

Presumably we will get a message from mr sploofus sometime updating us all on the 'improvements' he is doing.
I have noticed that things change before we get told about them.

I am getting very nervous....the community quiz took longer than I wanted to spend and it's nowhere to be found~!! Only my live quizzes are showing and they are a jumbled mess....I'm biting my nails.

No idea but you would have thought that either mr sploofus may have realised by now and maybe said something about it or maybe even if it was just one of the editors offering some words to help ease our worries.

Improvements are great as long as it doesn't mean losing out on the quiizes we have authored but not yet gone live.

We can't post anything on sploofus hotwire unless it is a thread starte dby an editor.
I honestly think something will get said soon about it, I reckon someone somewhere is working on the problem and pretty soon it will be back to usual. (fingers crossed)

I am new to the chat forum - not much of a chatter - limited time. I don't think I can start a new thread on the hotwire - looks like it is for the powers that be to begin discussions.

Yeh only in sploofus hotwire, anyone else is free to start a thread in any of the other rooms.
The editors tend to look through these sporadically and hopefully we will hear something soon.

I reckon I might go get some dinner while I wait

From what I can surmise, the quizzes are now being listed separately each time someone takes it. Wierd

I have one other glitch no mentioned which is some of my quizzes are listed multiple times. The hard part is I have lost the building quiz for the challange. I am not sure who I remember adding but it looks like Justin is now iffy.

OK - everything should be all set now.

I'll open a new thread in a few minutes for discussion on these changes. Please wait for that thread for any further discussion on the new scoring system for quiz authors AND quiz takers.

You're going to love it!

Thanks!!!

In theory am I right in thinking that we are now going to see lots more points for everyone who writes quiz?
say there average is 7.5 the least they can earn from one of their quizes is 75 but many quizzes may earn more whereas befoe all would just earn 75.

If that is the case, it is going to be hard to get near the top of the leaderboard, but also a good incentive to create more quizzes and watch the points explode.

Don't think that just having a hard quiz gets you more points. Experience tells me that hard quizzes have way fewer takers and often have terrible ratings. The risk is your own on which way to go, but it sort of evens out.

baggiob
Baggiob  (Level: 142.7 - Posts: 888)
Sat, 19th Aug '06 6:46 PM

Yeh it does for example
if average rating is 7.5
a quiz with a rating of 1 that gets taken 100 times = 750
a quiz with a rating of 5 that gets taken 20 times = 750
a quiz with a rating of 10 that gets taken 1 time = 750

So an easy quiz will earn the same amount of points every 100 times taken as a extremely hard one every time its taken.

I reckon the best way to make point out of it is just to put quizzes up of varying standard and hope for the best. lol

The only other thing I would add is, see how we can arrange the quizzes by number of points earned, would it be possible to arrange them by individual number of times taken?

At the moment a quiz could earn more point after being taken 50 times than one been taken 100 times.

Don't know if anyone else would be interested in seeing the actual number of times each quiz has been taken being able to sort that into order but I know I would.

Just a thought.

But you see, Baggiob, quizzes with a difficulty rating of 10 rarely get takers. I'm tellin' ya. And the easy ones get thousands of takers. Trust me, it evens out.

I believe that most writers of difficult quizzes do it for the fun of sharing a certain knowledge, finding people who like the same things and a general sense of satisfaction, not for the points. I haven't written any quizzes that were very difficult, but I have enjoyed most of the conversations some of my quizzes have started.

some of the quizzes i have written have a difficulty rating of 6 or 7 even though i would have thought they would be quite har, i suppose it just depends on how well the people taking it are.
