NEW POINT SYSTEM FOR TAKING AND AUTHORING QUIZZES

THIS NEW POINT SYSTEM IS ONLY FOR USER AUTHORED TRIVIA QUIZZES. NO CHANGES TO THE TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE DAY POINT SYSTEM HAVE BEEN MADE.

New Point System for Quiz Takers
EVERY TIME you complete a user authored trivia quiz, you will automatically receive 100 All-Time Jackpot Points and 100 Monthly Quiz Taker Points, no matter how well you score on the quiz. These are "base points" - your reward for simply taking another player's quiz. Depending on how well you do on the quiz, in addition to the difficulty index of the quiz, you may also receive BONUS POINTS.

The more difficult the quiz, and the better your score, the more BONUS POINTS you will receive. The formula that calculates your BONUS POINTS relies heavily on the difficulty index of the quiz. For example, scoring 60% on a quiz with a difficulty rating of 4 will reward you with many more BONUS POINTS than scoring 100% on a quiz with a difficulty rating of 1. Scoring 30% on a quiz with a difficulty rating of 9 will reward you with many more BONUS POINTS than scoring 80% on a quiz with a difficulty rating of 2, etc.

While the exact formula will not be revealed, I highly encourage you to take a wide variety of quizzes so that you can see for yourself how the system works.

New Point System for Quiz Authors
(PLEASE see this HIGHLY recommended link for more details!)

Every quiz published on Sploofus.com has a "difficulty" index associated with it. If everyone who has taken a particular quiz receives 100%, then the difficulty index is equal to 1. Inversely, if the average score of all quiz takers for a particular quiz is 10% or less, then the difficulty index is equal to 10. The current scoring system simply takes the difficulty index into account when calculating how many points the quiz author receives each time their quiz is taken. The formula is simple:

PTS = AQR times 10 times DIFF

Where:

PTS = Points the quiz author earns each time the quiz is taken
AQR = Average Quiz Rating for ALL of the quiz authors quizzes
DIFF = Difficulty Index of the quiz

Although simple, this is a highly dynamic formula that changes the amount of points the quiz author will receive as more people take all of the author's quizzes (affecting the AQR), and more specifically, the individual quiz (affecting the DIFF).

I must say that now this has been happening for the last day or so all I can say is what a fantastic premise.

Some quiz authors are going to see their points explode from this, I know I have already.

It is amazing to see a quiz that has been taken 30 times with a higher difficulty rating gaining more points than an easy one thats been taken over 100 times.

I can't wait until next month when the quiz authoring leaderboard will truly reflect the new scoring so we can see how well people are doing out of it.

good job.
