ELVIS FILMS WP

This WP better be good, Vickie,

because even Elvis got tired of making these oh-so dreadful, utterly predictable B movies.

I know he did...if you don't think it's going to be all that great you don't have to take it you know? Then again you may learn something...

Just yanking your chain a little, Vickie.

I take em all and this will be my last puzzle of the month as I try to overcome three puzzles missed due to system outages and still end up in the top 10.

Learn something ????? Don't you think that's pushing it a bit too much?

Well as a WP it should be fun. Thanking you in advance for the effort.

"Learn something ????? Don't you think that's pushing it a bit too much?" (...meaning, you know all there is to know about Elvis, or aren't interested in learning anything about Elvis? I know you didn't mean anything about Vickie's ability in producing a competent WP.)

No, actually, I don't. The reason why I take all the WPs (except when I don't have computer access) during the month, even with puzzles whose topics I don't know anything about or even like, is that in addition to the mental gymnastics of word play, I hope to learn something on a new topic or warm up to a topic I don't like.

But hey, that's just me.

Looking forward to doing your WP today, Vickie. (In full disclosure, I don't own an Elvis recording, have heard a few of his songs, watched a couple of movies and have seen Graceland from the front gate while on vacation. So, I expect this will be a learn-something-new-for-me-puzzle.)

Pepper, I don't want to be submitted to any more Michael Jackson.

But I could learn something more about EP, but probably not from those dreadful movies.

Justice Darling to FE Smith after a long and technical explanation.

'Mr Smith I am none the wiser'

response:

'Possibly not, my lord, but better informed'.

Echoed by Garrybl this am.

Lots of fun! Elvis movies were a must-do my sophomore year in boarding school. A bunch of us spent many happy hours in front of that little TV set after classes and before homework. The cheesier, the better in my opinion

Thanks for the memories, V!

Well done Vickie.

And Andy, sometimes you are too damn pompous.

If only pompous meant tongue in cheek, you'd be correct.

Of course, perhaps you enjoyed the deep character development in these films, especially of the females.

I haven't taken it yet, but I'm sure it will be better than the films themselves.

Vickie, I've never been an Elvis fan and I thought his movies lame, but, I loved your puzzle!

Sorry Redsox9, your post had to be deleted for revealing too much about the word puzzle. You are welcome to repost after the word puzzle has ended.

Regarding the films I am completely vindicated by the following from Wikipedia

One critic dismissed them as a "pantheon of bad taste."

The puzzle, however, was a real delight, a tribute to the excellence of Sploofus and the author.

Thank you very much, Vickie.

Sans the bad acting and mediocre songs the puzzle was a sure winner.

. . . and I did learn something - reading his bio that taught me how varied were Elvis' talents.

I enjoyed this puzzle. Not a huge Elvis [movie] fan but this puzzle was a nice tribute to his film career.
