Please could someone explain to me what's happening with the pending quizzes?!

I launched a pair of quizzes earlier today, on Pirates of the Caribbean I and II, obviously wanting them to be released together, and when I checked earlier POTC I had 17 quizzes ahead of it and POTC II had 18 - yet POTC II has now been released for nearly half an hour, and POTC I, which was launched first, still says it has 17 quizzes ahead of it!!!

PLEASE could someone let the other one go so it has a chance of at least being *near* the one it's supposed to be AHEAD of!!

How can this happen, for heaven's sake?! I thought the quizzes are taken in order of launch?!

Numerous possible reasons:
Your Quiz 2 could have been easily edited, and/or gone through an Editor with plenty of time to edit at that point.
Your Quiz 1 might have had problems to be considered by the Editor, or gone to an Editor who had to leave it for a period and come back to it.
If there is a sequence in quizzes, it might be best to launch Quiz 1 and wait until it's posted before then launching Quiz 2?
Sorry about your prob on this occasion.

Thanks for the response, Sirsploof, but what I can't understand is why No 2 was picked out of the list and released when No 1 apparently, which was ahead of it in the queue, still had 17 quizzes ahead of it!!

Both quizzes were the same style, very simple 'quickies', and neither were edited in any way on release - but what I was aiming for wasn't so much that they were released in the right order (although obviously preferable) as that they were released together!

I is confuggulated ...

If you launched them in order, one Editor could have received Quiz 1 - and, to exaggerate, then went off on a month's vacation before passing it!
Another Editor picked up Quiz 2 immediately after and sent it straight through.
The number of quizzes shown 'in front' include 'owned' quizzes that Editors have picked up but, for whatever reason, haven't yet passed. So the next quiz to be edited - and maybe passed in minutes - could, in fact, have (to exaggerate again) 200 quizzes shown in front of it.
And a quiz being delayed by an Editor for whatever reason could be anywhere within those 200 quizzes.

All that probably happened here was that two different Editors picked up your quizzes at roughly the same time and, for whatever reason, the one editing Quiz 2 passed it quicker than the one editing Quiz 1.

With two different Editors editing, they're not necessarily going to be launched simultaneously or in order.

Hope that explains anything - seems clear to me!

I see - yes, it's much clearer now, thank you! I didn't know exactly how it worked so it seemed very confusing for a while.

I don't suppose you can help with why half my quizzes have suddenly had most of their punctuation replaced with question marks, can you? (see 'weird punctuation errors' in this forum).

I corrected one quiz' worth earlier and it took me more than ten minutes - a quick check of a dozen or so others showed that around half of them (including the two Pirates of the Caribbean ones we've been discussing) have also had most of their quote marks and hyphens replaced with question marks - it's going to take me hours to sort it all out!

Why on earth has this happened?

It appears to be a general temporary snag in the system. I'm sure Justin has pickled up these posts and will be looking at it.

Yes, I did mean 'pickled' ... or maybe 'picked'!
