Captain Phil Harris, known to millions as one of the stars of the Discovery Channel series 'Deadliest Catch', has died. He was 53.
Harris had suffered a stroke last month while off-loading his crab fishing vessel Cornelia Maria in Alaska.
In a statement, Discovery Channel said: "He was more than someone on our TV screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart. We share our tremendous sadness over this loss with the millions of viewers who followed Phil's every move."

Fantastic show and genuine reality television featuring real people. Phil was a terrific character and endlessly watchable. You'd have to feel sorry for his two sons who are very much chips off the old block. Having said that if you watched the show for the last couple of years you'd know he wasn't too good at looking after himself. RIP.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam............. May his soul be at God's right hand.
