Nice variation but find it difficult to navigate, especially when checking back and forth with the list of words at the top. As you go down the clues, the list disappears

I may reduce the number of definitons and words to 5, rather than 10, for this particular game. Let's give it a few days.

Thanks!
Justin

Eight would work well enough to avoid scrolling up and down the page. Or the word choices could be duplicated at the bottom of the screen so that they would still be visible when the player scrolls down.

I can see all the questions and answers but i do have a huge screen.
I think larrybus idea would be good though

Good idea, Larrybus...either at the bottom or along the side, since there is space there. I don't know whether it can be done with this, but I have seen pages in whicb the side column can move along down as the page scrolls down.

I love this game, but also find it hard to see what's what - would it be possible to put a line across after each question/answer to divide the page up a bit, as you do with the answers page?

I also agree that having the words down the side would be better, so we can see them as a block.

I don't think putting the number down to 5 would work, it would just become too easy - 8 maybe at a push, but personally I hope we can make it work with the full 10, fingers crossed!

You're really on a roll at the moment, Justin, this is great!

10 works fine for me on my screen too - if only WRs did the same I'd be down in the teens more often.......

Wow - less than an hour after I asked for lines between the questions, and there they are! Great!

They do spread the screen a bit more though - some people might find they take up a bit much space - but personally it all fits on mine so I'm happy!

Fits for me (just), and I agree w/markie about scrolling in WR but if I make them any smaller I'll go blind. I love the new puzzle and look forward to getting faster with practice. A little nervous about a big jump in challenges. Be interesting to see how it all goes.

Thank you for keeping it fresh, Justin.

Cheers

Any chance you can also shade the questions that have been answered, as you have don the answers that were selected?

Thanks,

Fun game!

I also like Larry's idea of repeating the words at the bottom.
I tried making my screen smaller so all 10 definitions & the words would fit on
one page, but it's hard to read easily.

I love the new game, but, it is extremely difficult to navigate.

Is there any plans to have a thingy on the profile page for this new game like there is for the wordrounds?
Ie the thing that says how many times you have finished 1st 2nd or 3rd?
I can't remember the technical term for it. lol

Wordmatches are quite enjoyable, and very challenging to the competitor.
*Sigh!* A new addiction to the Sploofus collection.....I may never get any work done?

If we are making comments on the technical aspects, I find the lefthand side list a bit high up, and have to keep scrolling back once I have reached the last couple of questions on the main list, as the lot does not fit on my screen. This could be because of extra toolbars I have at the top of the page?

Can I join the list of folks who would like a li'l clearer definition between those'uns that have been marked, and those'uns that haven't been? I find at times I am scrolling back to find which button did not click, coz I have words left over on the left!

The Sploofus site has a multitude of intriguing aspects for every taste and speed now!

The change in color after the word is chosen and the question answered is fabulous! Thanks for that.

I would love to see the word list duplicated at the bottom of the screen or have the words on the side move up & down. I too, have difficulty because the whole list does not appear on the monitor.

Good work, Sploof! I'm having a blast!!!

Justin,

I'm using Firefox, and I just went to the WordMatch to check it, and my definitions are not changing to any different color or shade. I thought this would help, especially if you have to go back up to the top or middle of the page, it's hard to remember which ones you've checked and which you haven't when you're in a hurry. If it would change color, it would help tell more where you were, I would think. Would it just show up sometimes and sometimes not?

Thanks,
Marilyn...

Hmmmm.... please verify that you are running the latest version of Firefox (1.5.0.6). To do this, click the "Help" menu at the VERY TOP of your web browser. From the Help menu, click on "About Mozilla Firefox". A screen will appear telling you which version you are running.

You can go to http://www.mozilla.org to update your version if needed.

If you are running the latest version and STILL do not see changing word and definition colors when clicking a number button in WordMatches, then please clear your browsers cache, restart your web browser, and press CTRL-F5 on the WordMatches game screen. That will do the trick, unless you are on a Mac. Dang it gets more complicated than I thought.

Let me know how it turns out. Thanks!
Justin

Reply to Justin....yup, I am using Firefox (of course!) and the main part is changing from black to grey as I add an answer, but the contrast is not great when you are counting microseconds.
Love the game though......!

I do have the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. I guess maybe it's a slight lightening once you click on the definition. I guess I was expecting it to be more dramatic. Maybe I'm just blind. Maybe if the definitions were printed in red and changed to gray like the answers do when they're clicked on, I could see them better or vice versa. I can see the answers just fine when they change from red to gray. I'm not a real speed demon on this anyway. If the others are happy, I'll just keep struggling along, and maybe I'll get to be a real whiz one of these days.

Thanks Justin for all you do.

Marilyn....

Another helper: maximize your screen size by putting your browser into "full screen" mode. In both IE and Firefox you should be able to do it by pushing the F11 button on your keyboard. Push F11 again to go back to regular mode.

C'mon Comic, give us your real secret. You know, the one about cutting out the eyeholes in your bag?

Actually, the bag with the little eyeholes really helps me maintain my focus. No distracting peripheral vision, you know.

One extra tidbit of advice: plastic bags don't work nearly as well.

Will we get a previous round winners/fastest time list for this game like we have for WRs? Taz's 19 is the lowest score I've seen so far, which is pretty amazing! It would be great to see how to see how the night rounds are playing out as well.

There's still an occasional bug in the WordMatch system.

I just had a WM where THREE of the ten target words were identical. All different definitions and everything, but still no distinction in the answers. After assigning the three proper definitions to the words, I found out that I had gotten one right and "transposed" the other two.

That has happened to me once or twice too kaufman....very frustrating. If the words/definitions are random, not sure there's much to be done about it.

Yelling "Unfair" here!!! LOL

If WordMatches are in the WordRound family, how come our successes in WordMatches don't show up in our profiles along with the WordRounds???? Amazingly I came in 3rd this AM (everyone must have been sleeping) in a WordMatch, but it has not showed up in my profile.

Justin?????

Love Love LOVE the WordMatches! Great way to run up points and keeps the fingers nice and loose for fast quizzing! Thanks! Will there be a way to get to it from the taskbar above like we get to WordPuzzles and WordRounds, etc? Would be a lot easier.

the format of this game was hard at first, but upon playing repeatedly, I have to say thanks for this one! Leave it be.
