I have been working on a lengthly quiz that took a lot of research and just put in the final question and hit "enter question" and this red box appeared that stated you have to be logged in to bla bla bla and wiped out the entire question of which was lengthy and I was already LOGGED IN, how the ____- else could I have gotten to the quiz to finish it? buchanan

Sounds like a hard luck story to me. Try entering your question early, then amend it, adding some more, then repeat this till the long question has all been entered.

Or write it in a word processing program, and copy and paste.

Happens to me also... go ahead and Log-in... after logging in ...backpage till you get back to your quiz question
(it will be there) then re-enter it again... works for me. Requires a couple clicks, but you don't lose your work or

Hi there! Though Ravensclaw method does work (almost all of the time ), I find Bigbird's suggestion the most fail-safe. I use Word Pad when creating my questions and/or editing and often for the entire quiz. I suggest waiting until ready to cut and paste every completed question into the quiz format, thus avoiding an extended time lapse between programs. I have found not only Sploofus, but other sites as well, "timeout" requiring the need to log back-in and trust me, I have shared with you a fair amount of hair pulling!!!

You can open another window with the shout window on it and it will keep you signed in.

It makes a difference which browser you use. Firefox works really well ... It lets you spell check while writing and you can back up when you get timed out and return. Safari is pretty good as well. Internet Explorer is limited, sometimes does not let me back on and I have to re-log in and can not back up. What we need is a lot longer timer. We have needed this for three years so I have little hope.

Happily, the quiz software saves each question after you enter it so entering long questions partially, and returning is a great protection method.

Quiz writers are special and need to be stroked. Right, Smoke?

Dear Smoke,

Your fans miss your wit and wisdom. You are the Shakespeare of Sploofus. I suspect you had no idea how much we love your quizzes as well as Olga's. It is so nice to awake and wash the sleepiness away with the sharp challenge of one of your brain busters. We love your material ... NOW, please get to work. Love, Allena

Thank you, Allena, for the encouragement. One word from you and I am off to the wheel to put my shoulder to it again. It's nice to get good words from people who offer quality quizzes for me to enjoy as well. I am learning a lot from the experience.

I've never had any luck with spellcheck on sploofus (talk about self-evident truths...)
Composing in word works for me -- but it does produce problems with the apostrophe: ' which becomes ?....

Kathy, I hit the back button whenever that happens and the question comes back even if I have to log in.

IE6 users it will let you open another page wout logging off also will let you hit back space and your stuff will still be there. BUT.. If your browser settings are set to do this...

Tools-internet-options-settings-click the box that says automatically-down from that see History- days to keep pages in history change it to 1 ONLY if you dont want a bunch of cookies and junk kept on your puter for how ever many days you choose.hit apply-then go to the top of that and the tab that says advanced scroll down to security- uncheck the box that says empty temp files folder when browser is closed. apply -ok

If you are using Firefox, it automatically spell checks as you go. Even in these chat messages. words that it doesn't recognize will immediately get a little red line under them. ( I just spelled recognize incorrectly 4 different ways - cause I'm basically asleep - it knew it and told me).
