Somebody had been asking about Alison a while back, and I wasn't sure if you all knew, but she passed on January 30.

Here is a link to the obituary, which does contain a picture, but I copied and pasted the text below. Hope it works, as I'm not real computer saavy these days. If not, you can copy and paste into your browser.

Sheri Ras.

Alison Noel

Alison Noel Girard, 33 of Reno, NV, passed away after a long illness on January 30, 2010 at home surrounded by her parents, and supported by her nurse Chuck Bonney and Circle of Life Hospice staff. She was born December 21,1976, in Woodruff, WI at the Dr. Kate Lakeland hospital. Alison was born in the room that would later become her father's office when the hospital became a convalescent center.

Alison spent her youth in the north woods of Wisconsin, often boating and camping with her family among the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. Discovering her writing talents at an early age, Alison entered the short story competition (children's division) of the Hemingway days festival in Key West and won first prize in 1987. She won first prize again in 1989. Moving with her parents to Palm Beach County in Florida, there she won a short story first prize for eighth grade students. Alison won entrance to the newly created school of the arts in palm beach, where she changed her goal from writing to drama. Alison was named "All American Academic" upon high school graduation and she won a full scholarship to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. Following her heart, she spent years in community theatre, audiences still remember her stunning portrayal of Anne Frank at the Tulsa playhouse in Oklahoma and the Tulsa world review stating that the cast "led by Alison Girard, who is excellent in the title role" Alison participated in many performances at the Bruka Theatre in Reno.

Alison is survived by her parents, Michael and Deborah Girard and brothers Eric Girard (Gretchen) and Benjamin Girard (Shannon), nieces CC, Alex and Jordyn and nephew Jackson, her grandparents June and Harlowe Girard and Ray and Clara Koepp, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held April 3, 2010 at final wishes funeral home in Reno, NV from 4 to 6 p.m. a video of Alison's career with the Bruka Theatre will be shown and family and friends will celebrate her life. Allison requested donations be made to the Circle of Life Hospice Foundation or the Bruka Theatre.

She surely will. She fought a difficult battle, but ultimately, she won in her own way. Now she rests and is in no pain.

Thank you for letting us know. I had done some research a couple months ago trying to learn something but with limited knowledge of her personal life, I got nowhere.

I wish we could have let her know while she was alive how much we enjoyed her and miss her. I wonder if it would be appropriate for us to leave these messages on the funeral home's Web site for condolences? We could leave our Sploofus names, with the Sploofus connection so her family would at least know.

We all feel the loss.
I am sad that her life was so brief, and that illness had besieged her.

My sincere condolences to all who loved her.

I don't think I really knew Alison, and it seems like I missed a great opportunity to know someone really special. I feel she will be missed by a great many people, but also feel she is at peace now with her illness. God Bless her and her family.

Thanks for letting everyone. I'm sure she is at peace now because she did it her way. She will be missed. I get a chuckle when I think of Garrybl joking about her user name. Monkey nips 13.

She has been on my mind for a while. My condolences go to her family and friends
