This WP had my least favorite puzzle ever. Used nearly the entire alphabet to solve a very short phrase that made absolutely no sense to me when it was done. Looking forward to the explanation.

Dave ... perhaps you don't remember the Welsh Castles puzzle. I would have finished with negative numbers if it was possible. (Word to the wise ... if it ever comes up again ... choose W, L, Y, and O.)

I actually did all right on this one.

I have to agree with Dave.... I just didn't get it!!

I figured out the theme on my first one but it didn't help me choose the right letters for the other four!

I'm not a fan of short ones but it was a clever puzzle.

I was doing pretty good until I slammed on the breaks on my third puzzle and dumped a truckload of letters.

Survived it but these can be the most frustrating of puzzles. I had one puzzle that was a real letter muncher and
I didn't understand it afterward to boot, Most were pretty clever however.

My first one helped me get the idea, but it still didn't help much on one of them.

This is my favorite sort of puzzle; all my clues made sense so I'm not sure i got the letter eater...but please post it after our time is up.

I loved this one! I thought it was a very clever idea, well executed. Thanks for a lot of fun!

I'm with Barry on this one - I enjoy short puzzles, especially when they're clever like this one. Having said that I too must have been spared this week's 'puzzle of death'.

It was quick but not painless (dropped 500 points on missed vowels)

The one that killed me was the answer to "Lunar hazard"--Rill Rim. Besides the fact that "rim" and "hazard" aren't particularly synonymous, I just didn't know that "rill" can also refer to a long valley on the moon. In fact, I suspected "rill" at some point (in the midst of guessing EIGHT incorrect letters), but completely ruled it out after noting that the Wikipedia article on "rill" makes no mention of anything on the moon. I guess I can chalk this up to ignorance, and I now know the other meaning of "rill." Just wasn't a fun way to learn.

Other than that, I had a little trouble with the term "doublet." In linguistics, a doublet is a pair of relatively different words with the same origin (chief and chef). Did a lot of head scratching before I figured out a looser meaning was being used.

But, hey, it was otherwise fun.

Dave, you musta had a brain cramp.

A genius like you is still permitted to look in the dictionary once in a while.

Dave, I had the same letter killer that you had - Rill Rim. It siphoned off a lot more letters than it should have.

Thank you sploofgods for not dealing me that one. I agree --completely different hardness quotient -- not to mention word lengths -- to all the other clues I saw.
