I hope you all agree that Sploofus Tournaments are a wonderful feature. Not only do they give past quizzes a second airing, they are competitive, and you do quizzes you might not normally select on the live boards. Here’s to Tournaments and long may they continue!

no more player tournaments coming up. Perhaps the editors can get something going to encourage those who write many quizzes to enter theirs.

It's so nice to see positive comments about the tournaments, Marynaula and Linda!

The tournaments have been bashed many times before on the Salty Dog, and often for good reason. The leaderboard is often tainted by some mystery participants, who score conspicously well with either extremely fast or extremely slow times. (I've been know to fall into the latter camp.) The tournament leaderboard is rather meaningless, and would only make sense if scoring could be somehow be adjusted by total time used by participants. For now, it's best ignored.

But that aside, the tournaments are really all about the re-surfacing of some really great quizzes. I've not only enjoyed the various tournaments dedicated to individual Sploofus quiz writers (such as Marynaula, and brought to our attention by Linda), but many of the "common subject" tournaments have also been a blast. (I particularly enjoyed the recent one on "Higher Education.") Kudos to the editor who compiles the quizzes in these tournaments--some real creativity goes into the selection of subjects and quizzes for those subjects.

I've played some tournaments recently and enjoy the variety of quizzes and the challenges.
Sometimes I place fairly high on the leader boards and sometimes- [well you know.].
Kudos to the authors who have contributed a body of work to make these possible,

Going back to the points above; can the editors view submitted quizzes by month...and then look at those by ratings?

For example EA quizzes get a regular work out but I'd bet any quiz with an 8 rating deserves a re-run; I think I only have about five of them out of 500.

We do not have the ability to sort quizzes by ratings or by time period. That's why we were hoping more members would submit their own quizzes. Only 3 members have suggested one or more quizzes of another player - certainly not enough for a tournament.

Once again, we will gladly accept member tournaments. Submit 15 quizzes you wrote in 2009. Send them in via a Support Ticket. We'll be glad to give them another day in the sun.
