CUTEST TODDLER/BABY STORY

I got to babysit my 27-month old grandson while his mommy went to work for awhile today.

I feared he would cry when mommy left, but he was quite ok with me staying at his house with him.

However, mommy's little Shih Tzu, Scribbles, was NOT ok with it. He climbed on the back of the sofa, looking out the window, watching mommy drive away, and he was crying for 5 minutes!

Grandson says, "Is Scribbies ok?"

I explained that to him that to Scribbles, mommy was his mommy, too, but Scribbles would stop crying soon.

Grandson went and got a Kleenex and asked me if I needed to "Wipe Scribbies' boogers?"

How precious is that, that instead of being jealous, grandson is caring that the dog misses his mommy.

So - what are your most precious baby/toddler experiences?

When my son was about 4, he saw the moon when it was just a little sliver and he said "Look mommy, a 'treasure' moon!" It took me weeks to figure out he was equating that sliver of a moon to the Cheshire cat's smile from 'Alice in Wonderland'. I'm not sure if he had misheard 'treasure' for 'Chesire' or if I misheard it when he said it. But either way, it's become a family tradition.

He's now 17 and we recently saw the new Tim Burton 'Alice..."; when the Cheshire cat's smile turned into a sliver moon, we simultaneously turned to each other with big smiles and whispered "treasure moon!".

My youngest son, frequently slept with me, when he was old enough to get out of bed, on his own. One night, I heard him come in, and I said "Is that a big mouse getting into my bed?" To which, he replied, "No, it's your little sweetheart"
I know! Awwwwwww!

My husband and I were going to have a very rare evening out on our own -- a "date." My 3-year-old son was watching me apply makeup and asked "Whatcha doin,' Mama?"
I said, "I'm getting beautiful for Daddy."
He watched for a couple of minutes and finally replied sadly, "It's not working, is it?"
