I was just inundated with 16 text messages from somebody who desperately wanted all their stuff from Nick. No threats, won't turn them in for using dope. Their stuff was trashed....that sort of thing.

Now, I can receive texts, but I can't send them - I'm not a phone person.

But I had to call them and tell them they had the wrong number and to stop sending me stuff!!!!!

They were very......texting/talking under the influence, shall we say, but they did immediately realize they had been sending to the wrong &^%$ *&^%$&^% phone. They did stop.

So - have you ever received text messages that clearly weren't meant for you? Any fallout from them?

Once got one, but it was spam so I just deleted it. Don't understand why you can't text them back tho...most cell phones allow responses on texts -- very straightforward. If you can read your text message, you should be able to send one. Have a teen explain it to you LOL! Ann

I never got a text meant for someone else .. but the business manager where I worked did. It was a really sweet, loving, mushy and somewhat steamy text intended for the sender's girlfriend (he was in the military). Turns out the sender was the son of someone I had worked with several years earlier but he had moved across state to another job. We had some good laughs over that text because the business manager was a middle-aged mother.

I got one once. Sounded urgent so I opened it. Cost me $.15 since I don't have a texting plan. When the bill came in the mail, I called AT&T to complain, and while I was in their voice mail holding pattern, I occupied the time by opening the rest of my daily mail. The next letter I opened was from my IRA plan, telling me that my retirement investments had lost something over $9000 dollars in the last three months.

Suddenly fifteen cents didn't seem like such a big deal. I hung up.

I haven't, but my mom did. She got a text telling her what time softball practice was. Of course, she doesn't play and texted back that the person had the wrong number. She then got a mean text telling her off for texting someone she didn't know. !!!!

I had some serious engine work done last year and I had a few text exchanges with the guy doing the work. One day I got a text that he sent to me by mistake that was meant for a shop that he sent my motor block to telling them to hurry up so he can get that miserable S.O.B. (me) off his back. I enjoyed it so much I got my stuff back and took it somewhere else. He avoids me now. Wonder why?

Haven't had any problems with texting but my Mom and Dad had a phone number very similar to the local Dominos Pizza. I asked my brother who still lived at home how he handled the called. Simple, he said, I take their order and tell the pizza will be there in 30 minutes.

We had the same number as a fancy restaurant/pub but with a different dialing code so we kept getting calls for it. Then the phone company changed the dialling code areas so that they had the same code but they changed the other part of the number.
We always joked that we should take bookings. Even these days after more than 2 decades we still get occasional calls for this restaurant!
A couple of years ago a local rugby club's junior section mistakenly (probably a typo) published our phone number on their advertising for some event/match. Their number is one number one different from ours. They quickly found out and were very appologetic.

Never got a wrong text message, but one time I had a PO box number mixup. A photo company advertised for models and somehow my PO box got in the ad. I found out because my box was overflowing.

I just returned them as incorrect address. - but in reflection maybe I should have gone through them and checked out the cute chicks. After all, I was single at the time. And they were addressed to my PO box...

They just annoy me. I have younger friends who text instead of calling. I have to pay per text. I never text - would take me forever. If they call me, it's free. If they text me, I can only respond by calling them anyway, and I have to pay. Don't text me!
