Hello all,

I have updated the site so that no player can have more than one quiz or Kerblunk listed on the most recent quizzes sections of the HOME PAGE.

Thank you,

When does it start? I guess it's not retroactive, since there are currently authors listed with multiple quizzes there now.

It's already started. FRONT PAGE (HOME PAGE) only.

We apologize for any confusion. This is the url for the home page, which Justin is talking about:

No author has more than one quiz listed on that page.

What about limiting the number of quizzes on the Top 20 Most Recent page?

It would probably be more helpful if it was on the trivia quizzes page. I think that is where most people access quizzes.

'Fraid I never access quizzes from the Home Page so doesn't make any difference!

It still doesn't really help, because when you go to Trivia Games and click on Quizzes, you get the Most Recent quizzes. And at the moment, one author has ten quizzes on that page. That's where the problem is. That's where most people access their quizzes, except for the people who go through the archives to take quizzes on specific topics.

Still disappointed.

As far as I can see the problem is still there

People who are not paying members can only post three quizzes a week. If paying members were allowed three quizzes a DAY, that would mean they can write 21 quizzes a week. That really is enough work for people to write a whole variety of quizzes. The problem I see at the moment, is that three or four authors are churning out "list" quizzes, with the same question and the same set of answers and it just doesn't stop - something like 12 quizzes for each year of 100 best recordings means that by the time they've gone from 1960 to 2000, that'll be 500 quizzes on the same topic.

I don't understand this home page stuff! I accessed Sploofus through the home page link, click on Trivia Games and then on Trivia Quizzes and found that one author created 12 of the 20 quizzes listed. So what is Justin and the other editor talking about when they say no one can have more than one quiz listed?

Either go to the top of the page on the left or the bottom of a page on the right and click home...that is the home page...

Justin, any long over-due constructive progress to report on?

If you go to the home page, at the right there is a list of 6 quizzes in each of the 3 quiz categories. No author has more than one listed in that list even if they have the 6 most recently launched quizzes.

Are we to assume that Justin believes he has addressed our concerns with his "home page fix" and the problem has been solved?

The "fix" has absoultely no effect on the problem that has been discussed in many of the chat messages or complained about to Justin or the editors with a remedy suggested. People taking quizzes don't look on the home page to find a quiz to take. They go to the Trivia Quizzes page that lists "Most Recent Quizzes".

I agree with Maurlin.

I know it is a change in policy, but the policy was not necessary when the most prolific quiz writers launched two or three quizzes a day. There now needs to be a change in policy when one player regularly launches ten quizzes a day; another launches six or eight; a third has the reasonable three or four and a fourth person has also three or four. It doesn't take an honours math student to see that at times there has been space for only two or three other quizzes at most.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was variety in the multitude of quizzes published. I did a quick count of quizzes an hour or so ago. There were 16 quizzes on music. If that is not your cup of tea or coffee, then there is very little choice for players to enjoy a non-music quiz.

Justin, seriously, there needs to be a change of policy for gold and platinum members to have a reasonable restriction on quizzes that can be launched on any day. Three for gold and five for platinum members would probably satisfy a lot of the concern.

I agree with Scrabq. I don't think anyone would mind restrictions, that way writers would have more time to research their topics well and in turn write better quizzes.
I'm all for a change in the existing policies.

Hmmm....I never even SEE the "Home" page. I always enter the site from TQOTD email link and go straight to my daily question. From there, I use the drop-down menus to go to other parts of the site. This "fix" does nothing for me.
