GARRYBL'S M/F PUZZLE

I am always so leery of Barry's puzzles but I really enjoyed this one. Well done and excellent clues. I only got one red screen and that was my own ineptness. The m/f threw me until I completed the first puzzle. Great job Barry!

You're my touchstone; if you're happy so am I.

M/F ????

Think I'll ask Smaug. He knows stuff like this.

I thought it was an excellent puzzle--very enjoyable and educational. I have one small quibble on a word that I never see used--might be a British/American thing. It added several moves to one of my puzzles, but didn't mess up my game in general.

Was it "pressman," Dave? Two extra letters and, like, 30 extra minutes. I think Hildy Johnson and Walter Burns were the last people to use that term to describe a reporter. Nowadays, it's more likely the person operating the printing press.

Yep, absolutely, "pressman." Barry, is that a term you hear a lot in JOE (Jolly Old England)? I'll go out on a limb here and say I've never heard that word spoken in my neck of the woods. That said and gender bias aside, I suppose it is more concise than "member of the press."

Apologies!
That was my word and I've no idea why I used it -- journalist would have been just as good.
I never spot these things till others tell me...sorry!

He said she said it was a gender bending concept for a puzzle.

I forgot to add that my favorite clue did not make it -- i think.

Phrase: Walter Carlos became Wendy
(Clued by: 'disorganized?'
