"LAW & ORDER" DISAPPOINTMENT

I know there are a few fans of Law & Order on this site and I have to say I don't watch it as much as I used to since Jerry Orbach left, but I read that when the new season starts Ed Green's new partner will be female, the first time in the shows history that it will have a male/female detective team. An I have no problem with a female detective character my problem is that the original L&O is just about the only show in recent years that hasn't resorted to the female/male partner stereotype that just about every other crime type of drama, and it kind of dissapoints me.

I love Law and Order! I will certainly continue watching it when Ed Green has a female partner, but, I will be very disappointed without Detective Fontana. Dennis Farina could never replace replace Jerry Orbach, but, his charm and good looks worked for me.

I agree with Gator. The male/female thing is overdone. Maybe they should take a cue from the NYPD Blue format and go with multiple teams, but PLEASE don't go with an Andy Sipowitz type. I guess I'm the only guy in the USA that couldn't stand his depressing character. Any cop with his emotional problems probably would have been shot by one of his peers.

I love the original and will continue to watch it, even though NBC has decided to put it in the spot where TV shows go to die on Friday nights (though maybe not so much anymore with the advent of Tivo). I am finding the other two (SVU and Criminal Intent) to be better shows these days. The writing is much more crisp and the plotlines are better. I love the tension and the story arc from SVU the last couple of seasons that lead to the breakup of the partnership beetween Stabler and Benson and his self-destructing emotionally before our eyes. Like I said, I'll still watch, or Tivo, the original, but I dunno how many more storylines they can come up with. It is starting season 17 afterall.

I think they should have brought Logan back over to the original.

Excellent point! I also wish the original would have done something to commerate Jerry Orbach when he died.
