I MISS JANK0614

She has terminated her account. That saddens me a lot. We became friends through Sploofus in the past two years or so and boosted each others spirits during some personal tough times.
We don't agree about politics but that was not an issue. We didn't let it become so. We agreed- to disagree! We had fun - that's what Sploofus should be all about.

She has helped me keep positive during this long year of eye problems.
I hope she wants to return some day,

Yes, exactly like a hole in the head.

I know you're not suposed to speak ill of the dead but...

Taking over the late clevercloggs' role of resident atheist I would say:
I hate being hit over the head with religion to justify any argument, and a combination of ignorance insensitivity rudeness and stupidity didnt win me over. (Not to mention that she neve rsaid anything I agreed with on a political front)
The site will be a politer and more friendly place without her. Let's not get sentimental over one of its more outrageous trollers

Well, as someone astutely pointed out, she's not dead. If you miss her so much, you can still email her or contact her on Facebook. She didn't vanish from the space-time continuum, she only quit one little website she was unhappy with, so cheer up and go chat with her on IM or something!

Those who have "nasty" things to say might have said them on TT where there is another thread. Al is her friend and sr=tarted this thread here with the best of intentions. Doubt Al often reads TT.

Janice is a good person. Those who spoke ill of her in TT Need to just go back inside of their trailers and think about what they said. I miss my friend.

Janice was active in the "LOST" group discussion. It was fun discussing that with her. I wish her well.

Her religious views were a little over the top but I respected them. I don't know what happened in TT but the bulls--- gets so deep in that forum It will suck the boots right off your feet. I will miss her. All the good people seem to be jumping ship.

Thanks Al for posting this. I am sure that she would be very appreciative and I know that she feels the same about you. To the rest of you that are gloating that she is gone......shame on you. You are despicable.

Who's gloating? All I said is that if you're really friends with her, there's no need to lose touch just because she left Sploofus. Lots of people stayed or became friends with Lodi, and I'm sure I'd maintain many of my Sploofus friendships if I left or Sploofus disappeared. Some of us have more in common than our Sploofus memberships. Excuse me if I don't lament Jank's departure, but I'm certainly not gloating.

Anyone stilll curious as to why Politics cannot be in SD? Jank did many other things here other than political and religious posts like word puzzles etc. Al was able to separate the nice person se is from her politics and guessing her rather extreme religious views and call her friend-too bad Garrbyl could not as he turned this thread ugly. Stoutyoungladd had just posted there was a thread in TTt where it seems ugly usually gravitates Anyone who gloats anywhere when someone leaves for whatever reason is MO should be kicked off the site too.

My point being that Jank had been here a long time and had contributed in many respects Word puzzles for just one She deserved a bash free thread on SD certinly as much as anyne else who has left. If you check back I started one when Cloggs left on SD bash free. A couple of others showed up in TT which were not-the way it is The reason I started my post about her leaving on TT was because I realized there would be a few so infantile that they could not give her that they would be incapable of separating her pasionate beliegs in politics and her religion.from her contributions to Sploofus Al is a big man in my mind

"Anyone who gloats anywhere when someone leaves for whatever reason is MO should be kicked off the site too."

I'm sure Dave, "Clevercloggs" , would agree with you Linda as I do. I saw hateful ugly comments about him on both Salty Dog and TT. To blame another member for Janice leaving is really pathetic. She disagreed with Justin and ended her membership, plain and simple.

Yes, that was her reason for leaving. Perhaps a little strong on my part to say that anyone who gloats when someone leaves should be kicked off the site. The thread on Cloggs on SD may have turned ugly but I did not start it that way. If Garrybl had wanted to say nasty things which turned this particular thread ugly he coud have gone to TT as Stoutyoungladd had just said there was a thread there. He chose not to go there and bring the UGLY back to SD. Stoutyoungladd had clearly informed him there was a thread on TT where ugly goes. Cannot see anywhere in this thread where anyone was blamed for Jank's leaving. Al started this thread here as he is Jank's friend and believes because of her contributions to Sploofus and her help to him getting him through a rough patch -deserves a thread on SD. Al is a big man!! ( Perhaps my mistake was noting Cloggs had quitt in the first place on SD as knew he was every bit and more controversial than Jank is/was)

Linda wrote: "Anyone still curious as to why Politics cannot be in SD?"

In my opinion, moving it from SD just moved it out of sight. There were still the same noxious or soon-to-become noxious discussions going on and rubbing the same nerves. I'm not saying this from any sort of holier-than-thou position; when I jumped in, I was as guilty as any of you. But in my heart I despised doing it, while some among you seem to relish it.

Although I sometimes felt the need to rebut something, I first and foremost consider you people (including you, Linda!) my trivia-playing friends, and I really am not fond of seeing my friends scratch each other's eyes out or my occasionally gouging one out as well. Since we collectively can't keep our political discussions civil and semi-objective, I'd personally prefer if they were taken completely off this site.

Oh please, let's continue to leave politics and vitriol out of SD! I clicked on a link earlier in this thread and was surprised how harsh everyone was being till I looked up and realized it had landed me in TT. No thanks. Let's keep the Maginot Line intact!

They came in almost 2 years ago, now Ken, and unless Justin and the editors want them gone and delete them they aren't going anywhere-wish it were so all you want. So many new folks are here now and have no idea what Sploofus was like before politics arrived here. For the time being separating them in TT is as far as they are going-seems what the majority prefere to SD- until further word . There will certainly always e the obstinate who insist that civil discussions bout political or religios difference can be discussed on SD. They cannot. There aed those too who simply don't care..

LOL! (Linda, that was pretty funny. And, yes, I saw the triple post before it got straightened out.)

Ken said, "I first and foremost consider you people (including you, Linda!) my trivia-playing friends, and I really am not fond of seeing my friends scratch each other's eyes out or my occasionally gouging one out as well."

I couldn't agree more, and that's the reason why I find some of the discourse so troublesome.

Thank you for your heartfelt post, Ken! You've summed up exactly what I've been thinking and feeling for a long time. Sploofus is about fun, and all of the negativity (via "politics") just zaps the enjoyment factor out of it all. Good on ya!

I appreciate everyone's views who do not like the politics here. I certainly don't want them in SD. For about 3 days the editors were deleting all and anything with a political reference. That did not work out well and Justin came back and said that is not what he meant. Believe what people object to most in the politcal posts is the name- calling. not sure how one stops that now that it has started unlesss by stict enforcement of TOU. Currently do not believe politics per se since they are now separated into another forum-adults should be able to chooose whart thread they open- are the main reason people are leaving. What is truly sad is that a thread in tribute to Jank and long-standing contributing member of Sploofus in All area woud be the subject of a viscious political and anti religious attack in a farewell thread which was put with the best of intentions in SD by her friend and have not a damn thing to do with either politics or religion. FYI not saying it has never happened to anyoe else.

"delete that twit's nasty post"
I'm sorry, what part of stop name calling, is confusing you? Just don't do it. Make your point with out the nasty words. It doesn't matter if you are responding to anothers words, YOU have to make the choice not use the ugly language. You can not change others, you can only change your own behaviour and how YOU react to things. People that are nasty are looking for a reaction, and when you respond to them, you are allowing yourself to be manipulated by that very person. Patience and logic, and steady words, may not work the first time or the second, but eventually it will.

How mny times did I point out Nicely that this was NOT a politcal thread a nd was never intended to be? The issue would have been solved if the original nane-caller ( being very nice there) had his post deleted as it should have been However, have strong feelings he is one of the ones who should be doing the deletions when violations of terms of use occur. Believe this is just further evidence of Player/ Editor dual accounts and the few who misuse that.

Martina, please reread Garry's post and then lecture himm on name-calling. He had no POINT excpt that. After some editor does their job and deletes that as a clear violation of TOU they are certainly free to delete mine where I called him a "twit' The odd part is Al who started this thread in SD to honor his friend shares the same politics with you and Barry. To say Barry's post nor mine did not belong anywhere is fine but it his was in certainly in bad taste on SD or as believe the Bristish say his country of orgin 'bad form' to put it mildly. The part I DO UNDERSTAND is because you agree with Garrbly you see nothing offensive in his post and do in mine as you don NOT with me or for that matterr Jank who said nothing here. There are a couple of other threads her about "I miss"-did not see me or annyone else making no other point but to name call because I disagreed with their political views. Either adddres all name-callers or say nothing would be my adbvice to you.
