RIP JOHN FORSYTHE

A real fine actor and presence just passed. Who can forget no seeing him on "Charlie's Angels." And a little known fact that he was once the public adress announcer at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. A real jack of all trades.

I know people are going to mention "Charlie's Angels" and "Dynasty," but he was the best "Bachelor Father." He brought a lot of class to his roles.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I really do remember him on Dynasty and Charlie's Angels.

I'm with Pepperdoc on this one. I know I'm showing my age, but I best remember him from Bachelor Father as Bentley Gregg. (Well, actually I saw re-runs in the mid-sixties, rather than the original run in the 50's, but you get the idea.) Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like it was the first of many single parent/guardian sitcoms (e.g., Andy Griffith Show, Family Affair, Courtship of Eddie's Father). Bentley was a very cool guy--he was the first I heard say one of my favorite lines when caught sleeping on the couch, "I was just resting my eyes."

By the way, did you know his character's daughter Kelly was played by Noreen Corcoran, sister of Kevin "Moochie" Corcoran?

Ah, yes, fond memories of Bachelor Father. However I do remember it the first time around

I didn't, however, know that Kelly was Moochie's sister. An interesting bit of trivia!

I watched that show a lot too [when originally aired].

He and Mr French showed how to be "real father figures" in their nieces and nephew's lives.
Sorry that he has passed on.

Al, I believe you're thinking of "Family Affair" with Brian Keith.

Oh my. Thanks to Jerrys for catching my boo boo.
At midnight, my mind must have wandered too much. Yes I was remembering Family Affair.

I did watch Bachelor Father, of course. Both shows had similar story lines.

I know you're kidding, Summertime, but it's amazing how much knowledge I have of 50s shows from watching after-school reruns in the 60s. (I was born in 1954.) The entire afternoon TV schedule where I grew up included sitcom reruns, e.g., I Love Lucy, The Andy Griffith Show, Jack Benny, Leave It to Beaver, Father Knows Best, The Donna Reed Show, Sergeant Bilko, Ozzie and Harriet, Burns and Allen, Make Room for Daddy, Love That Bob, Our Miss Brooks, Topper, Amos and Andy, The Real McCoys, Abbott and Costello, I Married Joan, The Ann Southern Show, My Little Margie, The People's Choice, The Life of Riley, December Bride.

What you should be teasing me about, Summertime, is how little time I spent playing outdoors when I was a kid!
